I so wanted to give this place a good review..... I stayed on the hostel basis, so for ~£20 a night it's amazing value, given the beautiful gardens, views and infinity pool. San baronto is a cyclists Mecca for those interested. I'd disagree about the food being bad, I ate here every night, the pasta was great, with three different... More

we stayed here with a group of friends and children. unfortunately the food was so bad, that it was impossible to eat here. we had diner there one night, and he ordered us to like the dry and cold pasta! we didn't dare to say no. the location is beautiful, the swimmingpool very good for small children, but the landlord... This property is in the most wonderful position with amazing views over the Tuscan countryside. The gardens and pool are wonderful. The rest was diabolical. Be warned, this place is run as both self catered apartments and as a backpackers hostel and the owner cannot make up his mind who his clientel really are! We booked through Owners Direct but... Some days ago me and my wife were in Fattoria di Villa Rossa. It was fantastic, the most beautiful nature, shining sun and the star sky of Tuscany - it is unforgettable!!! We lived in villa, arranged to myself romantic suppers. But there is more to come, we were the big pool, gym.......... By the way, we were amazed with... More

I give out of 5 for the location. San Baronto is stunning. I give 0 out of 5 for the management and quality of the place. If you want to explore Tuscany and use San Baronto as a base, find somewhere else. Some experiences can be character building - this experience will just ruin your holiday. The buildings look characterful... More

Booked through Owners Direct. We were advised that the end of season was quiet but when we arrived they had basically closed. The one bedroom "cottage" we had was not very clean and appeared to have been shut up for some while. The toilet with integral shower was very basic given the cost of the accommodation, and the cooking facility... More

The beautiful views are about all the Fattoria can boast. The welcome we received was hardly welcoming: the host Patrick received us in a very unfriendly manner. The cabin we were given was not properly cleaned and although we booked B&B, we weren't given a bed nor any breakfast. In our cabin there only was a sofabed, which was highly... More

I booked through Owners Direct. You are interegated on arrival and given a list of rules and asked to pay a deposit which is not advertised. We were asked to pay 100 euro and our friends who arrived the next day another 100 euro for the same house. A couple we met were told to pay 300 euro! Dont move... More

I booked this hotel through Hostelbookers, where it was called "Heart of Tuscany". What I expected to be a lovely stay, turned out to be our most disappointing experience in Italy. The location was beautiful, and the tiny town of San Baronto lovely, but not worth the stress I encountered while staying at this hotel/hostel. First of all, the hotel demanded... More

Guests are supposed to follow a lot of rules, which unfortunately don't apply to the owners, especially Patrick. Instead of being welcoming and helpful, he is rude and authoritarian, unacceptable for a host. Villas are not clean, outside furniture ugly and worn out, no pillows on lounges. Casale Cavalino offers something very unusual -- 2 in 1 special -- shower... More
