Dates from 1228 an old world country estate. Ashford Castle is a five star dwelling on 350 acres on the shores of Lough Corrib. The hotel has 85 rooms, its a destination, with an upscale spa, and ambience, the amenities, fine dining. The low season rates are $270. night. But you must think of suits of armor in the hallway,... Our first visit to Ireland, weather not too good, rain, flooding it was February! Ashford Castle took away all of the thoughts of the weather. The staff were excellent, welcoming, friendly and always happy to enquire how our days were going, offering solutions if required. The Castle has been restored beautifully and attention to detail is maintained tastefully throughout with... More

Ashford castle really does live up to its reputation. Comfortable, plush, historic, scenic, with great service, food, ambience and surroundings. Truly fit for royalty (George V did visit in 1905, as well as countless other of the rich and famous over the years). And the two Irish wolfhounds in the lobby of a morning cap it all! Could be used... More

It's a couple of decades since we were there. We were turned off then by the 'theme park' Irishness while having our pockets dipped! Now it couldn't be more different! There was some genuine care for our comfort and wellbeing, the food was great, the renovations are tasteful - a really beautiful luxury experience.

Visited with friends. You have to pay if you want to visit the grounds but we booked in just for tea and scones and you can see the grounds for free. The lady on the phone was extremely friendly and helpful. I explained we just wanted the light lunch and it was no problem and she didn't change in her... More

From start to finish it was a wonderful stay. The staff are so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The breakfast is outstanding and so is dinner. We got a lovely room too. If you didn't want to leave the grounds there is so much to do. Like falconry, horse riding etc, there is also a cinema. And of... More

We booked two rooms for a mid-January 3 night escape. We had a gourmet package, so our dinners , and afternoon tea were included. I would recommend making your dining reservations, and afternoon tea reservations when you book (the Dungeon Restaurant is not that big). The main room for afternoon tea is fairly small so you might be seated in... More

Ashford Castle was above and beyond any expectations I had before stepping foot on the property, excuse me, I mean driving through the trees to cross the old stone bridge to a reveal of a perfectly maintained Irish Castle!! Such a beautiful place, inside and out, top to bottom. Throughout our stay the service was impeccable. Every single employee seemed... More

Last weekend (Jan 2016) we visited Ashford Castle for dinner at The Dungeon, after checking-in to their sister hotel (The Lodge) for the night. Infact, this was a return visit, but I felt compelled to leave another review so that other potential customers have a recent review to see that everything was just as amazing as our last visit. Dinner... More
