It must be remembered that Pak Beng is a very small, remote town with very limited facilities but also is virtually the only suitable stopover on the two day cruise from Chiang Kheong to Luang Prabang. The hotel is ideally located at the top of the ramp leading down to the landing stage and is within a short distance of... More

This tiny town has little accommodation so it was not surprising that this guesthouse was a tad basic. The shower was just tacked to the wall of a "wet room" so you could not leave anything in the bathroom if you didn't want it to get wet. The beds were comfortable and despite reservations about lack of a/con the ceiling... More

Stayed one night on my way down the Mekong. Very basic room, small shower was a hose attached to the wall in the toilet. Bed was surprisingly comfortable - I like a hard mattress. The room was relatively clean and it was quiet. The breakfast was very basic, just some fruit and bread.

We arrived in Pakbeng after taking a boat from Ban Houei Sai along the Mekong. The town was nice enough, but the hotel was good for a night stay. Rooms are relatively comfortable, with a shower that'll do (its more of a hose) whilst the TV doesn't work but the balcony is nice, as well as the restaurant which serves... More

A perfectly adequate place to spend the night on your way down the Mekong - my guess is 99 per cent of visitors use Pakbeng as an overnight stop. Rooms are clean and the builders were very fond of wood panelling. Bit of fiddling to get the hot water working (it was a cool night) but it eventually ran warm... More

Considering where you are, this is not a bad hotel. I was in one of the newer rooms (numbered A-1) which was at street level with a dining terrace on its roof. The noise was’t too bad. The room had two levels, each sparsely furnished. Twin beds were on the second level and the only other furniture in the room... More

This place looks better from the outside than the inside! Rooms are small, dark wood panelling and poorly lit. Bathroom.....well we cleaned our teeth and postponed a shower until Luang Prabang! Restaurant so so. Think of it as a quick sleep along the magnificent Mekong, down a few beers and eavesdrop the Contiki group at the next table before an... More

We had spent a day on the Mekong, and this was the start point of our cycling tour. Rooms were very small and very dark, and the lack of power or lack of wattage in the lightbulbs didn't make reading possible. Probably does ok through a lack of competition and being tied up with tour groups. Still it is what... More

The rooms were adequate but primitive. I can't say much bad about this place but I can't say much good either. The internet didn't work, the power went out, and the rooms were fan cooled, but I wouldn't count this as a knock against the place as it was a rest stop along the slow boat route between Huay Xai...
