We certainly recommend this palmento to all tourists visiting the true, authentic sicily and thank Giovanni, his wife and daughter and Mariella for the great food, athomsphere and kindness. The room we stayed in was large with a private bathroom, cosy, clean and the area this palmento is situated in is very peaceful. We stayed 6 days in total and... More

My husband and I stayed at Palmento La Rosa about two nights. The place is not easy to find but luckily we found the location by GPS. The place is peaceful, quiet, and, beautiful. You can see many grapes and olive trees around there. You can also enjoy breakfast at the garden and see the perfect sun rise view and... More

We stayed at Palmento La Rosa for the first two nights of our first ever visit to Sicily in early June, 2012. It is hard to find, nestled in the foothills of Mount Etna, and making our way there gave us a good introduction to Sicilian village life and an education in the hazards of Italian driving. After a phone... More

We spent three nights with Zora and Franz in Palmento la Rosa and we enjoyed every minute of it. The rooms, the garden, breakfast, dinner, and the warm hospitality of the hosts made it very special for us and our four children.

We chose Palmento la Rosa as a base to see Etna before heading down to the south coast for a week. And what a great choice it was. The setting is perfect in beautifully restored stone buildings. Though we knew the hosts Franz and Zora would prepare dinner we had no idea what a treat we were in for. Our... More

More

We very much enjoyed our visit to Palmento la Rosa. The building used to be a winery, but has been converted into a spacious and unusual B&B, with gorgeous, large bedrooms and delightful communal areas. The garden is smaller than it seems, but quite lovely. Breakfast outside is very pleasant. Franz and Zora make you feel like friends of the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Palmento La Rosa was built in 1791 and used as a wine press until a few years ago. Il Palmento La Rosa lies in the national park “Parco del Etna” at the foot of Mount Etna and is ideal as a base for exploring Sicily's southeast. Thanks to its high altitude of around 700m, you have an excellent view right to the Costa dei Ciclopi. The location guarantees a mild and pleasant climate even in the summer. Il Palmento’s terrace is surrounded by a Mediterranean garden with fruit trees, roses, cacti, palm trees and other indigenous plants. ... more   less
