For my wife and I, after fifty years of travelling, this was the nicest hotel and the nicest location we have ever stayed in. The hotel (parador) is a very tastefully, converted monastery. Original parts dating back to the 12th century can still be seen. And although the extension, in which we stayed, is very modern it had been developed... More

Mr Pianist19 Firstly, let me thank you for taking part of your time to evaluate your stay at the Parador de Cangas de Onis. Surrounded by the environment where the Monastery of San Pedro de Villanueva lies, it is hard to find such a beauty placed together, because just a few miles long you can enjoy the National Park “Picos... The ferry to Santander had arrived late so it was after 10 p.m. when we reached this Parador. However, the welcome was excellent, the restaurant stayed open for us and we were made to feel very special. We had a lovely room for the night. Evidently. it was the Honeymoon Suite! The food and service for the evening meal and... More

We spent five nights at this excellent Parador. The location is stunning. The hotel itself is beautiful, all you would expect in a Spanish Parador set in an old Monastery. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Despite being extremely busy with an important wedding at the weekend, everything still worked like it should. The grounds are lovely and are right... More

Hotel is an old monastery in the middle of a valley, the building is very charming and the surroundings are very relaxing, with el sella river and greenfields around the building. Moreover rooms could be better and more furbished according to the building. Service was perfect. Would come back if a superior room is available. It is great they accept... More

Mostly up to the usual standard of paradores but lacking a pool. There was something not quite right, though the service was good, the food was good, and the buildings are good. Perhaps it is the area of Spain. It isn't like elsewhere. This is where they like to think the so-called reconquista started, though there was no reconquest, just... More

This was our third Parador (of 4) and on arrival on a grey and wet day it wasn’t particularly inspiring - but once inside it was absolutely beautiful! There is an old hotel joined on to a monastery and then a brand new wing of rooms to the side. We were in the new wing but reception, bar and communal... More

Rarely one can describe a Parador with the above terms. Their service is legendary ornery if nor outright rude. Generally this has not changed with the times of financial crisis. Yet, In Cangas de Onis this is all different, another world. Here in a converted monastery to which , tastefully they have added an extremely comfortable guestrooms wing one finds... More

Our first experience of a Parador, and we would definitely visit others. Interesting historic building that has been beautifully restored to maintain this. We requested a river view room, which we received, and would recommend this. Restaurant food is a particular Spanish style. Good for drives out. Try the two lakes above Covadonga, and when more adventurous it needs a... More

This Parador was one of the best hotels we stayed at in northern Spain. The rooms were spacious, the staff was superb and most spoke English. Food was great and the surrounding countryside was beautiful. All the amenities you would expect from a luxury hotel. Traveled with two parents in wheel chairs and it was easy to get around. It...
