Bad service and the room was not clean when we arrived. Horrible smell of paint in the room and no fan of air conditioning that could get rid of the smell. Unfriendly staff that was just unprofessional and unfriendly. Won't stay here again.

We were up graded to The Buryatia when there had been an error with our Baikal Plaza booking. The Buryatia is undergoing major renovation but is still functioning very well. Our room was a suite/apartment - very nicely decorated with excellent facilities. We were there just one night but it would be easy to use it for several days as... More

Unfortunately the hotel was in full renovation mode and hence found myself having to doge all sorts of thing to get to the lifts on the ground floor. That said, room was clean comfortable and have no complaints. Note that my room was at the front of the hotel so had a nice view towards the mountains. Staff very helpful... More

It's not really a hotel to start with, more like an apartment style living. It's a few floors on a commercial building. We booked the economy room which turns out to be what it is - very economy. But afterall i am not expecting too much in terms of quality for the price i am paying. On the plus side,... More

Last time I was in UlanUde 2 years ago and I'm impressed that the service became better. The rooms are renovated clean and comfortable. Most of the staff speaks good English so communication was not difficult for me. The hotel is in the city center. Only two minutes walk to main street. There is private parking and free Wi fi.

The location of the hotel was great but the rooms were average. Hotel in a big old Sovietic building in the city centre. It has free Wi-FI and that´s a good thing. In my opinion the rooms need some reforms.

When we first walked into our hotel room at the Buryatia Hotel in Ulan Ude, we got quite a shock. We have become used to Russian hotels that are generally of a good standard, with some being very good. We were not expecting the poor standard that we found at the Buryatia. It is by far the worst hotel room... More

Typical Soviet style hotel. Reasonably priced rooms are very small with bathrooms that leak, clog and have other problems. More expensive rooms are bigger. We chose the latter. Breakfast is okay, but the sparsest we've had in three weeks in Russia and Mongolia. Wi Fi costs $ and often does not work once you have paid. House keeping often fails... More

Best reason to stay here...location. Buy your bus tickets to Ulaan Baatar from the travel office in the same building, and walk round the corner in the morning to catch it. Bus leaves too early for the free breakfast. No free wifi unless you pay for an expensive room.

Ugly in that way the Soviets were so good at, but okay for a short stay. The room was clean, everything worked, the breakfast a bit minimalist but reasonably tasty. Decent location, about five minutes' walk to the Lenin-head square and 10 minutes to the pedestrianized shopping street. In provincial Russia, you could do way worse.
