It's not really a hotel to start with, more like an apartment style living. It's a few floors on a commercial building. We booked the economy room which turns out to be what it is - very economy. But afterall i am not expecting too much in terms of quality for the price i am paying. On the plus side,... More

Last time I was in UlanUde 2 years ago and I'm impressed that the service became better. The rooms are renovated clean and comfortable. Most of the staff speaks good English so communication was not difficult for me. The hotel is in the city center. Only two minutes walk to main street. There is private parking and free Wi fi.

The location of the hotel was great but the rooms were average. Hotel in a big old Sovietic building in the city centre. It has free Wi-FI and that´s a good thing. In my opinion the rooms need some reforms.

When we first walked into our hotel room at the Buryatia Hotel in Ulan Ude, we got quite a shock. We have become used to Russian hotels that are generally of a good standard, with some being very good. We were not expecting the poor standard that we found at the Buryatia. It is by far the worst hotel room... More

Typical Soviet style hotel. Reasonably priced rooms are very small with bathrooms that leak, clog and have other problems. More expensive rooms are bigger. We chose the latter. Breakfast is okay, but the sparsest we've had in three weeks in Russia and Mongolia. Wi Fi costs $ and often does not work once you have paid. House keeping often fails... More

Best reason to stay here...location. Buy your bus tickets to Ulaan Baatar from the travel office in the same building, and walk round the corner in the morning to catch it. Bus leaves too early for the free breakfast. No free wifi unless you pay for an expensive room.

Ugly in that way the Soviets were so good at, but okay for a short stay. The room was clean, everything worked, the breakfast a bit minimalist but reasonably tasty. Decent location, about five minutes' walk to the Lenin-head square and 10 minutes to the pedestrianized shopping street. In provincial Russia, you could do way worse.
