If you like your hot food served cold, your mash potatoes prepared in a food processor and made into gloop and your vegtables so raw you can't stick your folk into them then you will LOVE this!!! Such a shame because the pub, beer, gin and most of the staff are terrific.

Ended up here by chance, as our favourite Cheshire pub with rooms (The Bear's Paw at Warmingham) was fully booked. But what a find! Converted from an old schoolhouse, the pub/restaurant space is dramatic to say the least. Ceilings go up to the rafters, walls are the lovely russet local brick, tables marble and chunky wood, open fires, strings of... More

Lovely pub converted from an old school house. The lighting inside is perfect with lots of candles, very romantic. Well above par food for dinner, not the usual pub grub. Excellent attentive service from the staff.

Our party spent a weekend here, occupying all six rooms in the old headmaster's house. B We enjoyed the convivial atmosphere in the pub - bustling, busy, yet well ordered. Service at the busy bar was quick and cheery, and we enjoyed sampling a few of the 200 gins on offer. Food was first rate and table service friendly and... More

We recently stayed overnight at the Cholmondeley Arms and would recommend it to anyone. We had a dog with us and she was made very welcome! The rooms are lovely, traditional décor and very comfy beds. I love the olde worlde feel about the main building and the accommodation. We had dinner in the restaurant, next to a lovely log... More

Came here on a packed Friday night to celebrate a couple of birthdays. We were able to book a table for food as there was a large group of us, they don't do reservations for smaller groups which keeps the warm and friendly pub atmosphere in tact. The food was fantastic, certainly of restaurant standard, but what make this a... More

Despite being packed even for saturday night the very high standard was maintained. The staff were attentive and very cheerful. The food was fantastic as ever and the Cholmondeley beer was wonderful also the excellent Merlot ! The steak and kidney pie tasted as amazing as it looked, the field mushrooms on toast a winner. Sadly no room for a... More

Easy to book. Stunning buildings. Lovely decor. Rooms a bit damp. Lovely tea/coffee tray in room. Plenty of hot water. Amazing meal - portions far too big though. Excellent dinner service. Lovely wine. Cute outdoor area with heaters. Good choice at breakfast - waitress not very welcoming or friendly though. Will defo be back!

Had a super wet afternoon here yesterday . Drinks selection was great, menu looked mouthwatering. The food was very tasty. Fish pie was fantastic, very fresh. I loved the devilled kidneys, nice and spicy. One big issue for me is that there are no high chairs and no separate childrens menu. Both of which makes me think that children not... More

Absolutely lovely! Very helpful bar staff who could recommend an excellent gin, served with orange peel and juniper berries which complimented the gin to perfection. The food was delicious and didn't take too long to arrive. Definitely will be returning!
