We visited the pub and sat outside. The food came to the table quickly and it was delicious! After we had eaten we sat for a good twenty minutes or so and not a single member of staff came outside. When they did they were serving food and ours and others empty plates were ignored which is a shame as... More

The stock of booze is amazing but only for the resident or travellers with designated driver.Never mind, the food is also excellent and well presented. The young staff are all enthusiastic and very friendly.Well situated for those using the A49 as its only 50yds down a side road.

I had the Moroccan dish which was lovely and my husband had the most enormous and deep filled pie which was delicious.. We then shared a dessert which was lovely. I was disappointed though because when we ordered the dessert we also ordered a cocktail. After 20 minutes we asked the waitress when the drink would arrive, she went to... More

We staged here from Plymouth to the Lakes, arriving mid Sunday afternoon to find all seats taken. From the Good Pub Guide. It is all jolly good stuff. Food, beer and wines all high standard. Dumbledore room rustic comfy with patio doors onto the back lawn. Glad to witness absence of silly cushions. The lady who cleans also does breakfast... More

We stayed at the Cholmondeley Arms for two nights. We received a warm welcome and all the staff were helpful and friendly during our stay. The rooms have character, were clean with a good selection of refreshments. Our room was little dark though so needed the lighting on some of the time in the day. We had a superb meal... More

Fascinating place, imaginatively refurbished, attractive and vibrant atmosphere. We stayed one night, check in stated 3pm but our room not ready until 5pm. Booked for dinner, really nice menu, nicely cooked but slightly short on detail. Lamb croquettes were nice but there were three as a starter and they were dry - they were served with a minted pea puree... More

Can't praise this restaurant enough. Four of us enjoyed a wonderful meal in relaxed surroundings with a bit of background music thrown in. Whilst you are not able to book unless there is 8 or more, we just had a short wait for a table. We were served a great variety of gin and tonic from the selection on offer.... More

We were staying down the road and decided to try this pub after having it recommended to us. The recommendation was validated in every way!!! The location is rather remote and yet people travel for miles to this place and you can see why. The decor and ambience are first class. The food was insanely wonderful! A menu brimming with... This is clearly a successful, confident restaurant already, but is also one that remains friendly and personal. Young, happy staff were efficient and relaxed and contributed to the overall ambience. Set in a former schoolhouse, the restaurant ranges through 3 large rooms and features high ceilings, feature windows and a cosy fireplace. Central to the whole space is a magnificent... More

We stayed here as part of a wedding party for a weekend not booked by ourselves. When we finally found the place my heart dropped seeing it as I thought as just a funny little country pub, how wrong I was. On entering the Chalmondeley Arms I was very surprised it is a place of great character (a very well... More
