We stayed at The Nest for the weekend of 5 - 7 December for my husband's annual getaway with colleagues and their families. We were a diverse group in terms of ages, couples and families. The hotel has a lovely old world ambiance. The food was very tasty and portions good. Staff and management were very friendly and helpful. It... More

Stuart has done a great job. Setting is beautiful, rooms are cosy. It's not super fancy, and it isn't supposed to be. It's set in a great part of the Berg. Only somewhat negative is that they should simplify the food menu, but that's just a personal preference. I think most people liked the diversity on offer. Also, have more... More

The rooms are equipped with a kitchen and everything one can think of even with dishwasher. Two huge en suited bedrooms with a breathtaking view . Absolutely awesome to be awakend by that. Despite some guests negative comments, which is always the case with anything, this charming old hotel is always great to return to. The food is freshly cooked in a home-style way, with waitrons serving you at your table. Its a warm, friendly and beautiful country hotel to relax and enjoy doing nothing.

We were at The Nest for an annual event we attend in the Drakensburg every May (Winter). The rooms are sufficiently clean and happily have underfloor heating and electric blankets. Without these two luxuries, the rooms are colder than refrigerators. The decor is early eighties at best. There is even one of those cheesy little mono radios above the bed!... More

A much anticipated 2 days stay turned into a real disappointment (resulting in an early departure). The first one being that this hotel is some distance from the mountains with unfortunately none of the spectacular views. Although the colonial mansion and the gardens are beautiful, there is a tired feel to it and the decor and amenities are outdated (a... More

This is a well-known Resort in the Drakensberg and definitely well worth the stay. The service was amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. The food was impeccable and the traditional Easter braai was the highlight of our weekend. The effort that was made in terms of having a full program for children and adults alike was... More

Don't waste tour time. Really. Have no idea how anyone could gives this more than 1 star. Outdated, poorly organized, small dingy rooms in dire near if updating. The food reminded one of boarding school and many guests were bitten by bed bugs/lice of some description.

This is an old fashioned resort hotel beautifully located close to the Drakensberg Mountains. Virtually all country pursuits available: walking, mountaineering, horseriding; plus tennis, and three excellent bowling greens. Indeed the Resort specialises in bowling tours and has being doing so for many years. Some of the rooms have been refurbished and these are the ones to go to. Food... More
