Stayed over at Didima over a weekend on returning from Midlands Meander. Good rooms, thatch roofed units looked recently refurb'ed. Was quiet and well maintained. Self catering options and also restaurant available for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Road into Didima was a bit concerning with small kids trying to open the car doors. Camp itself was safe with visible security.... More

Didima is a unique property, no doubt. Definitely a one of a kind and has a certain mystic magic about it. Reaching Didima is the most challenging aspect of this hotel and being prepared will reduce much anxiety. Also come prepared not to leave until you really, really have to. The 40 kilometers from Winterton takes about an hour to... More

We were pleasantly surprised with Didima camp- not wanting to stay in a typical resort or hotel this was a very warm and cozy setup in a lovely chalet. We found everything top notch and would recommend Didima camp to anyone who is interested in visiting the Drakensberg and has a bit of a sense for adventure! Lovely breakfasts as... More

though there was some kind of official meeting of politicians we were lucky to be the only ´private´ people (in one of the bigggest houses!) and enjoy the peace and quietness of this place. we felt very welcome!

Beautiful setting spoilt by lack of maintenance and bad F&B management: beds were old and soft; hot water just trickled out the shower; old shape TV with poor reception; no Wi-Fi but good enough cell phone signal. Breakfast was sparse and they kept running out of items and didn't replace them. Suppers were good, but a bit disappointing not to... More

The most breathtaking location - awesome views all around including the front window/door/patio of our lodge. Terrific area for walking or just enjoying the beauty of creation all around you. Lodges are externally of a unique design and appealing. Inside, ours was dated and tired, poor quality fixtures and fittings but clean. Restaurant was ok, staff were excellent. I got... More

The camp is located in an amazingly beautiful valley. We received a room without a view which was very disappointing. The room with a kitchen a very handy if you intend to make some meals yourself as it is equipped with everything except a oven.

welcome to Shire. Such an amazing nature experience, with the rooms facing west so you have a perfect sunset on the porch. Unfortunately, the restaurant athmosphere does not fit into this picture since it is too big and the food max. average (1 point minus). But do not forget, you do not pay 300€ a night!!!

The place looks awesome first time saw it but when you spend few hours there you realize some inconvenients you don't see at a very first sight. There are amazing views from there, the surrondings are really awesome and you can enjoy all them by walk, there are many routes hiking starting in the Didima. The staff is also kind... More

We had a lovely stay at Didima, although I think our company had a lot to do with it. The venue could not be more picturesque, however, the lodge is in definite need of updating. The self catering facilities we severely lacking in equipment (knives, forks, basic stuff) and the roofs leaked when it rained. It was boiling hot when... More
