This hotel is certainly not cheap, and our stay was necessarily a brief one; but we do not regret the expense at all. It is commands incredible views - and I think these may be enjoyed from any room, because if I am not mistaken all the rooms overlook the lake and the mountains beyond; and the hotel itself is... been coming here since 1971. every year. watched the place expand from a sngle villa to a small hotel between gareden lakefront and street. since the new tunnel this has become so quiet the lake is now tranquil. so tranquil. even the ducks are relaxed. and waiter massimo speaks six languages and is the most cheerie and tranquilo of them... This is a small family run hotel with a lovely personal feel. The rooms are decorated in a style from a bygone era and where incredibly comfortable and clean. We had Room 209 which had a large balcony with magnificent views. The terrace is wonderful for cocktails or dinner and there is a small bathing area with easy access into... More

This hotel has beautiful views located on Lake Lugano and was very convenient to visiting family who live on the Lake. We would give this hotel higher rating; however, we arrived late and the air conditioner did not work so it was very hot and uncomfortable the first night. It was repaired in the morning. Would have expected some sort... More

Dear Sir, We thank you for your feedback and it makes us happy to know you have enjoyed your stay with us. May we just point out that regarding the air conditioning there was no system failure upon arrival. The Air conditioning was not switched on during that night as the outside temperature barely reached the 16 degrees Celsius. As... More

This was my second stay at the Stella D'Italia, the first stay was maybe 10 years ago, but not much had changed - in a good way. Check in was easy, our bags were carried straight up to the room and as mentioned in other reviews the rooms are quite basic, but clean and comfortable. The location and views from... More

This gem on lake Lugano is only a half hour drive from the ferry port on lake Como where you can visit Bellagio and other towns if you buy a day pass. The rooms are very basic but comfortable and quiet, with balconies facing the spectacular lake/mountain view. There is a sunning deck for swimming in the crystal clear water... More

This our 4th visit to the hotel; it is always one of the highlights of our trip. This time my wife and I decided just to hang around the hotel, the gardens, the adjacent village and just relax......and relax we did. The hotel, situated on Lake Lugano, has an excellent view of the lake and surrounding mountains. People come from... More

Stayed here for 2 nights and grew to love the place. The restaurant is excellent and it is woderful to be able to sit outside under the vines overlooking the lake. Lovely old village with two or three local bars and some good walks up in the hills. Unfortunately you can not walk around the lake here but you can... More

I write this three years after the event - but it's telling that the memories evoked by just looking through our wedding photos from our 5 days spent at the Hotel Stella D'Italia in August 2010 make my wife and I feel as if we were there last weekend. My wife and I have stayed at the Stella D'Italia twice... More

We've visited this hotel a few times since I last reviewed it in 2005!! The great news this year is that a tunnel that takes most of the traffic away from this tiny village on the shore of Lake Lugano is now open so (unless you are a fan of traffic wars!) it's a much calmer place. We ate a... More
