We stayed in one of the 'special' themed rooms - cost a little bit more but absolutely worth it. Stunning big room, themed for the prison history, comfortable and well air-conditioned for a very hot weekend. Nice breakfast again in a unique environment. Corridors black and gloomy to get you in the prison mood but every facility her is clean... More

I frequently visit reasonably priced hotels in this region, and the Lodge Vilvoorde is my top choice. Nice atmosphere in the lounge, especially in the evening with the candles burning along the pillars, where the present meets the past. Without exception, the rooms are modern, stylish and very clean. Nice touch that different rooms are furnished/decorated differently. Good firm beds,... More

The hotel is in the centre of Vilvoorde, close to some restaurants (no restaurant in the hotel). Negative points are the "cold" atmosphere (it was an old jail and you see and feel it). In the morning it's difficult to have a coffee because it's served by only one lady who is always busy (she is alone managing breakfast). A... More

On a recent work trip to Vilvoorde , Brussels I had the pleasure of a four night stay at this hotel. It's a lovely hotel converted from a correctional facility with some amazing original features and very nicely decorated rooms, very clean and modern. My board was bed and breakfast which also made the stay more pleasurable. Not your usual... More

I stayed here for a Business Trip recently and the Hotel was pretty much what we required. It is located only a short walk to the town although it's actual location is not too appealing, being in the middle of an Industrial type area going through modernisation through new apartment buildings. Check in was great and I was given one... More

Tiny rooms. Open toilet area into room. No privacy for showering. Air-con didn't work. Flies in room. Fridge didn't work. Nightmare. Oh, and the bar is expensive. The breakfast looked mediocre. Also it looked like a building site and is hard to find. Fine for getting in and out of Brussels.

We didn't know what to except and we got a very pleasant surprise. The staff was very helpful, breakfast was very nice and most of all the rooms were amazing. The rooms are designed in a way which reminds you of the building's previous purpose - prison. We choose this hotel because of its proximity to the airport and we... More

I had to work in the area and originally booked a Brussels hotel but had to move when advised on the cost of taxis. I feared being stuck out in Vilvoorde would make me go stir crazy BUT this hotel is comfortable enough to make it worth it. It has a rather unique feel being a converted prison, but don't... More

Quick review 1.75 euro for a nice hotel in Europe is ok. 2.Apparently a chain of them but has more charm then a Holiday Inn or similar chain. 3. Only serve breakfast--pastries, breads, cereals, eggs, bacon, cheese, cold meat, some fruit, yogurt. Basic but fine 4. Don't have their own restaurant for room service or lunch/dinner-plenty of places to eat nearby... More

Nice hotel, really friendly staff, big and comfortable room (family room) and good breakfast. We spent a week there and were very happy. However, when my husband went to pay the bill he saw that they charged 3 euros for a tea bag.... (6 euros for 2) They didn't even had to make the tea. I went downstairs and asked... More
