Just returned from a week at this site and we loved it. Very quiet even though it must have been mostly full. Toilets and showers are always spotless and there is a freezer for ice blocks if you are camping. Pitches are fairly relaxed but can become crowded, especially if you want to be next to the river so we... More

Beautifully maintained and very well run, the Old Post Office Campground is one of the best sites I've been to in a very long time. The owner Gareth is a welcoming, relaxed and friendly guy always more than willing to help. The location is gorgeous, right next to the river Irt and a 5 minute drive to the southern shore... More

We have just returned from a wonderful 9 night stay at the Old Post Office Campsite. The site is on the banks of a river with well maintained flat pitches. The shower/toilet blocks are kept immaculately clean as are the washing up areas. At first we were a bit dubious about the 50p for the showers but soon realised that... More

if you like dogs its the place to go if you don't like dogs keep away. There are signs to tell you to keep your dog on a lead but no one takes any notice, including the owners. The owners dog had a big stick in its mouth and it caught the side of my car the owners were lucky they could have... More

I'm sat here right now at The Old Post Office Campsite on the bank of the River Irt. A fantastic lakeland site away from the hustle of the more popular lake district towns. Pitch up and relax. Wasdale and all its great peaks ten minutes away.

My husband and I stayed here from 7th June for 7 nights. We were greeted as soon as we arrived and shown which plots we could choose from. The facilities were 5 star as was the campsite. The local pub The Bridge Inn (which we could see from our tent) served good food and even greater real ales. The local... More

We arrived at The Old Post Office Campsite on Saturday 24th May for 3 nights, as soon as we arrived we were greeted by the owner, who was very friendly and welcoming. He showed us our pitch and we set up. The site is in a lovely location and the surroundings are just beautiful. I have noticed a few people... More

A lovely small family run site with great facilities. Good access to Wasdale 5 or so miles away. Highly recommended. Local pub is a two minute walk away, great food, wine and local ales. You will also meet George the Labrador!!

We have just spent three nights at this campsite. Very nice, very idilic, with the bonus of having a pub with great food within spitting distance. Highly recommended. The only down side was the kids playing football. There is no play area for kids to play ball games so they tend to play in the middle of the campsite, in... More

A lovely family run campsite. We arrived on a Friday evening in mid October for a 3 night stay and we welcomed in a friendly manor by the owner. We had a choice of pitches all of which were on well kept level pitches. The river runs alongside the campsite which adds to the tranquil setting. The site has good... More
