Only ate here, did not stay. Lovely location and a traditional pub look from the outside. Good selection of ales. Had the starter of olive and feta cheese salad. No scrimping on the olives or cheese either. Then had the steak with a side salad which was fine, but there was no proper English mustard - just those dreadful sachets... More

We stayed for two nights, for a walking break. We really did had have a most relaxing time, a few too many pints of sneck lifter eased the walking pains. The food was good, a decent sized portion, that was served very promptly. The sound of the river Irt helped with a deep sleep, or was it the ale?

Not a busy sunday night but had to wait over an hour for a meal, only to be told my choice was off!! No apology. Food ok when it finally arrived but for goodness sake get the service sorted!!!!! Its a pity, a good pub for visitors and locals alike but whenever we visit for a meal service lets it... More

We stayed nearby and visited this pub a couple of times for a drink and a meal. The atmosphere is very typical of an out of the way English pub....just great! The food was good too ..we recommend the Haggis & Black Pudding stack...if they still do it....it's really is amazing

My husband had recommended this Inn having visited with work but it exceeded all expectations. The staff were all so helpful without exception. The accommodation was well equipped but with character that was just quite charming. The whole atmosphere was welcoming and friendly throughout our visit. There were occasions when staffing seemed a little stretched, but it was a busy weekend... More

Where greeted by a very friendly man in the bar. Food and service excellent. Breakfasts are good to. If you in for a hectic drive, come to bridge inn over the hardknott and wrynose pas. So scenic but roads are tight

We arrived late on a Friday evening due to traffic delays. We were checked in by a very pleasant chap (Davis I think his name was) who directed us to the rooms. Whilst we were going to the room another gentlemen greeted us, who I believe was the owner. He was a charming man, asked us about our journey and... More

We stayed here with friends a few weeks ago and had a great time. It helped that the weather was glorious of course! This Place is a typical Lake District country hotel and is full of character due to the age of the building and layout. We love this Place and this area of the Lakes. They have a large... More

My wife and I enjoyed a few days tucked away in this traditional pub in a lovely corner of the National Park. Len and Veronica took a friendly and personal interest in all aspects of the service and this created a warm and cosy ambience. Our room was very comfortable with a fine view of the river and surrounding hills.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The award-winning Bridge Inn, once a modest mail coach’s halt, is now a fine, well-situated, comfortable country inn offering hospitality to all travelers and visitors being close to Wastwater (Britain’s favourite view) and Scafell. Well behaved dogs are also welcome. The Western Lakes and Fells are spectacular and here in this quiet valley there is still the peace and tranquility that should be Lakeland. There are still more sheep than people!!! Excellent "REAL" food, "REAL" Ales, Log Fires and a "reet good welcome." Standards of accommodation today's travelers expect.
