Well, this was my 7th stay at this Jewel In The Lakes. We visited in October 2014 after being married here in August 2013. Since then we've been back for New Year 2013, our Anniversary in August this year and again - October. The remaining visits were before then. Accepting that we are all different - I still fail to... Stayed a couple of days for a nearby wedding. Evening meal in the bar was good and the ambience fine. However, breakfast was sparse and disappointing and the room we had was in need of an overhaul. Staff pleasant and helpful.

We stayed here overnight, it is an old building and the floors and walls are all over the place which I love but the room looked tired and could do with a good spruce up. We ate dinner in the bar area which had a nice atmosphere, the food was good but probably overpriced. Our main whinge was the wine... More

Booked here for Sunday carvery and was not impressed. 'Carvery' was served, you weren't allowed to help yourself! I thought this is what 'carvery' meant? Nothing special, pork meat fatty, cauliflower cheese watery and hard, Yorkshire pudding tasteless and so was cabbage. Not a great choice of veg in my opinion! Only 2 meats to choose from. Carvery waiter not... More

Stayed for the weekend recently with friends for a walking break. The Bridge is perfectly placed for Wasdale. The staff were friendly and helpful (especially smiling Sue at breakfast time). Food is plentiful and wholesome, just what you need for a day's walking. Good choice of real ales. Rooms were clean - very good showers, perhaps a bit short on... More

I have stayed in a lot of different pubs in the area for work and this is by far the best I've found. Nice old pub with oak beams, good selection of real ale, open fire, good evening food & breakfast, wifi everywhere, friendly service, clean room, powerful shower, nice countryside around and cheaper than a premier inn. I'll be... More

Second time I've stayed at the Bridge... I use it as a base to climb and hike in Wasdale. The food is great the beer is great....and it's a proper country pub atmosphere... I go by myself and always feel welcome. Oh and I love the breakfast. Thanks NearlyDan man

We and our two dogs were made very welcome at the Bridge Inn when we stayed for 2 nights last week. The pub is in a quiet location by a river with the most stunning scenery nearby. The pub food was first class as was the breakfast - enough to set you up for the whole day. Fabulously powerful shower... More

After reading such strong reviews for this place I was hopeful, unfortunately these hopes were dashed! The location is great don't get me wrong but our room decor was extremely tired and if I closed my eyes whilst in bed I could have been on a Greek island! Banging base music from a wedding in the building and feral cats... More

The Stanton is in a great location for Wasdale and Eskdale. The rooms are comfortable with good quality bed linen and towels. There is a well stocked bar and the choice of evening meals and breakfast is very good all served by friendly helpful staff. There was a problem with the room when we arrived but this was dealt with... More
