I was a bit sceptical after reading some of the reviews on here but so glad I ignored them. This is a lovely 17th century moated chateau with long driveway, plenty of parking and beautiful grounds. The welcome was warm and we were shown around the main areas (a sort of orientation) and then to our room. We had the... more

We stayed here overnight on our way south at the beginning of July. Our dog was welcomed, but charged an extra 20€. I know from my own experience they can take more cleaning up after, but 20€ per night is a bit steep. (Malmaison charge us 10 per stay not per night and provide a bed and water bowl). Room... more

We have now stayed here three times and other than a run-in with an obnoxious receptionist in 2008 (Which nearly stopped us going in 09) we have always found the Chateau D'Etoges a real treat to end our annual French vineyard trip. For the last two years we have stayed in the orangerie which has spacious contemporary yet classic high... more

We were unable to stay at the chateau but we decided to have Sunday lunch at the Orangerie. We arrived very, very, very late but were still seated very courteously. Since the kitchen was soon closing, they only asked that we do not select an elaborate menu... understandable. The food was divine - irreprochable in quality. The service was impeccable,... more

My husband and I stayed two lovely nights at the Chateau D'Etoges. When we first saw the chateau ours jaws dropped. I love the country setting with the pond and moat. It is just so relaxing to sit under the large trees and enjoy the peace and quiet. We had a huge room with a Henri the VIII type of... more

Situated in the village of Etoges is this historic chateau and its superb Orangerie restaurant. We booked a gastronomic package and had a great room at the rear overlooking the moat and garden, this also came with covered parking right on the courtyard. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left our expectations were met or bettered, from... more

Amazing accommodation venue - as travellers on a budget we were extremely pleased that Chateau D'Etoges had rooms for all price ranges. It was a beautiful chateau, with amazing charm, character and history and extremely helpful, friendly staff. We would have loved to have had more time to enjoy the grounds and services on offer. Dinner in the silver service... more

I have stayed at the Chateau d'Etoges 3 times in 3 years and every time I fall in love with the place a little bit more. This is an old chateau south of Epernay, a fabulous example of faded grandeur (the French have an excellent record of maintaining without 'doing up' these wonderful old buildings), huge rooms, huge beds, antiques... more

Firstly I must make it clear that my comments relate to a booking experience only and not a stay. My girlfriend and I are taking a driving holiday through France in April. Being a fan of tripadvisor reviews (we've not booked a bad hotel yet) I wanted to experience this hotel for one night off the back of excellent reviews.... more
