This was our second visit for a two night break. We stayed Monday and Tuesday nights in one of the Chalet Lodges in the grounds of the Hotel. The ChaletLodges lend themselves to a comfotable, rustic stay leaving you feeling that you are in your own private setting in the woods. The food was excellent, we had the six course... More

Fabulous location, comfortable rooms. We stayed overnight and used all the facilities even the outdoor jacuzzi - food was gorgeous. Loved it - I'd just had some very stressful weeks at work and this was the perfect antidote - I would highly recommend

Went here for a two night stay including Abba Tribute night and Spa day with three girlfriends as we did the same last year (excl Abba!) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It can be tricky organising a break for others but Vicky in Events was fantastic, sorting every query I had with speed and patience. The staff in general are... More

Stayed for 2nd time and weren't disappointed. Lovely location in the woods, excellent staff and superb food. Took advantage of one of their autumn deals where the evening 6 course taster menu is included in the price - such good value as the food is very, very good, as was the service. Asked to stay in one of the outside... More

Although the hotel needs updating, that is minor compared with what it offers - a lovely, calm setting in log cabins or in the main hotel which is also made of wood and situated in a forest park. Our room was a good size and the pool was also reasonably-sized - often in spas, these are added as an afterthought... More

We have stayed in two other Crerar Hotels recently in Scotoland, Oban Bay and Loch Fyne, we were delighted. We thought we would try the Chevin for a weekend break. On a positive, the room was large, the staff were great and the food was lovely. That's where it ended though. We travelled as always with our two Labradors and... More

My wife and I spent one night pre-airport at the hotel. first impressions good, check staff friendly, room very very very small, bed tiny double, bathroom stuck in 90s, but cleanish. We stayed for dinner, very positive start with attentive staff and impressive menu and setting. Unfortunately food was ok (over priced) and after main course, we along with all... More

We attended a friends wedding here and we checked into our log cabin around 3pm and we could park directly outside it. The cabin was smaller than we expected and the bed was quite uncomfortable (this was our only complaint!) the service, staff and food was all excellent! The food especially here for a 'hotel' was exceptional. We had delicious... More

Stayed here 2 nights for a family wedding. Had a double and a twin next door to each other. I had initially asked for a family room (to keep costs down) and was informed there were none left but to be honest our rooms were so huge we could easily have slept all 4 of us in one room! However... More

This is a nice, rustic hotel, well-positioned to visit both York and the Dales. It has a country charm which it makes it welcoming and relaxing. There is an outdoor hot tub which, unlike some, is large enough to hold 10 people. Even in the rain it was quite relaxing (although it could have been just a little bit hotter).... More
