We stayed in 4 paradors (Lerma, Olite, Tordesillas and Segovia) during our two-week stay in Spain. We consider the Lerma parador the best. The characteristics of the old palace were well maintained while Olite and Tordesillas seemed a little too commercialized. The hotel staff were friendly, and some spoke good English. We were given a room on the top floor... more

Stayed here November 3, 2008 to visit the Monastery at Silos. We took the express Continental bus from Madrid to Lerma, and hotel arranged for cab on the 4th to Silos and back. (Bus station in Lerma was not yet finished so had difficulty getting up to the hotel without access to taxis.) Lerma also interesting to explore but tours... more

Fantastic hotel set in an old Palace. Excellent service from the moment we walked through thre front door. The staff were splendid, especially the folks on reception & the guy who looked after us at dinner. The menu gastronomic is a real steal & worth trying so long as you're not a veggie. Ours was the cheapest room in the... more

The duke who built this parador obviously chose the prime position in the area. From our room we looked out over fields with grazing sheep, a soccer pitch, and a small river. Beautiful scenery and a peaceful atmosphere. The building is of majestic proportions, and the lobby is gorgeous. We ate dinner at the parador's restaurant, and enjoyed it very... more

The building is a huge, superbly renovated palace dominating the little, somehow a bit sleepy town. I was lucky to get one of the four tower rooms at a bargain price, which are somewhat special: a long stairway to climb up to your private tower. Room and bath with an open plan, i.e. the bathtub was separated from bed only... more

The former palace of the Duke of Lerma, a key figure in the politics of Spain in the first quarter of the 17th century, was converted into a Parador in 2003. Though we have had drinks etc there before, this was our first stay. It has to be rated among the top 5 paradores in the chain. The building itself... more

We are rarely disapponted in Paradors. This was no exception. The rooms are usually large, well equipped and the staff helpfull and courteous. The self serve breakfast is outstanding and much superior to French equivalents. The restaurants do vary, but in this one we thought the food (regional Spanish) was first class and our evening meal was a treat and... more

We stayed for one night only at the Parador de Lerma, and although we enjoyed ourselves, I think that this was about the right length of time to stay, certainly I would not have wanted to stay any more than two nights. The first impression of the parador was spectacular, it stands in an elevated position arising out of the... more

I usually quite like Spanish paradors. And I'm tolerant of all types of accommodation, as long as the service is friendly, the rooms are clean and I feel safe. I just spent 19 days in Spain, some in two star pensions and some in five star deluxe hotels. Some lovely experiences in both but the parador in Lerma, alas, did... more

This Parador is large and opulant with some very nice features. The central courtyard /patio area is relaxing - the breakfast room excellent - the parking easy - the welcome warm and the town is very condensed but pretty. As this Parador is close to Burgos and the wine growing regon of river Duero, it makes sense to stop over... more
