This is a great place to stay for a visit to Punakaiki. The rooms are clean, modern and well equipped. The host is very friendly and made us welcome. The small kitchen is well equipped. However, there are no stores in the area so if you want to prepare your own meals stock up in Westport or Greymouth. There is... More

Gorgeous room, super courteous host, glow worm dell and beach overlook on the property. Further away from Pancake Rocks than other motels, but worth it. No restaurant on site and no grocery stores in the area, so bring your own snacks or eat at the Pancake Rocks Cafe. Should have stayed longer, though. A great place.

The rooms are comfortable and spacious with couch, kitchenette, refrigerator nice bed, deck, good room ventilation and beautiful views of the ocean below. The bathroom was small and our bath lacked a true shower stall- just a curtain on the floor. Probably a two star hotel but the location improves the rating..

There was no one there to meet us even though we had advised our estimated time of arrival (5 pm) and had pre-paid. After waiting half an hour, knocking on doors, tooting the horn, looking for a note left for us and wandering about we failed to find one single person, not even a guest! Knowing we had a confirmed... More

If you want to see Pancake Rocks and Blowholes for overnight, this is the motel with high value, especially for family with a couple and a kid. As Pancake Rocks and Blowholes has high and low tides, it is worth staying here overnight, so that you have high chance to see both tides. You also have chance to take striking... More

We booked a Pancake View (max guests 4) unit which had a covered garage attached, which was quite handy in the cold and windy weather at Punakaiki in late October. The overnight temperature dipped to near freezing and the single-glazed windows meant that the two electric radiators struggled to keep the cold out. However, the beds had electric blankets and... As a family of 5 we stayed in the "Bush Cottage". This is very quiet and secluded. Amenities are perfectly reasonable. Something very special is that there is a glow worm grotto in the motel grounds, which is really very magical. The National Park has spectacular bush and walks in addition to the Pancake Rocks. A great place to get... More

One night, over a long weekend. Not much to comment on. Perfectly adequate room, great view, nice shower, comfy bed. Terrible Wifi. Fun fact: our two bedroom unit, had 18 Mugs and around 15 Wine Glasses. Only used one of each and felt like we'd failed!

There is a row of 4 or 5 morel style units- we had unit 1 which has some water view. There are also a few cabins with even better view but only for 2 adults, we traveled with 1 child so we had to stay in the motel part. 140 NZ plus 10 NZ for child /night for September. I... More
