For our next-to-last night in New Zealand, this "treehouse" room was a great way to top it off. The space was surrounded by tree ferns and bush, and the pounding surf was close enough to lull us to sleep. The room seemed brand new, and the spacious balcony was too good to pass up for a liesurely breakfast and second... More

Nice accomodations. Plenty of space for our two couples. Full kitchen facility. Great sunset view. Margaret This was a vacation house. It's about 1 km from the office where you check in. The bed was good and we slept well. Jim

We stayed for one night in the Rata treehouse towards the end of our South Island tour. Even though it doesn't come with the modern distractions like TV, internet, etc the kids thoroughly enjoyed the place. We occupied ourselves with the board games provided and spent quality time together. Be careful of the sandflies though. There are no screens as... More

We were looking forward to our stay at Havenz, but we found the house to be a bit run down and the beds uncomfortable. The views were wonderful, but the house got very hot and we couldn;t open the windows because there were no fly screens and the sand flies would come in and feast on us. It was a... More

We booked this accommodation to try something a bit different and we are so pleased we did. It is situated near the Truman Track just north of the village of Punakaiki on the west coast. We were advised to stock up prior to arriving at Punakaiki so did this at Greymouth on our journey north. As the name suggests, The... More

We spent a single night here and, as every one has said, picked up the keys at the canoe rental place. For some reason we were given an upgrade to the upstairs room which was good. It was a rainy and gloomy day/night, so we had to stay inside. The room was basic but large and had a nice kitchen... More

We had booked for the small room, but we read the reviews of it too late. When we got to the Havenz Canoes (easy to find and I don't understand people's difficulties) we asked the man with the key about it and said that we had serious reservations. He spoke to the owner on the phone and we got the... More

Positive Points : for nature lovers, it is a kind of tree house, with view on the forest. (For some people, it a horror movie room, far from any civilization with scary noise in the night ;) ). Breakfast (in the fridge when arriving) was ok. --- Negative Points : Keys of the room were given by someone taking care... More

I stayed in the Tree House (Rimu). The accommodation is basic, but clean and comfortable. The sound of waves booming against the cliffs most of the night was fantastic (so why would you want TV/WIFI?). I was alerted to a lack of supermarkets in advance and so packed a sandwich and a bottle of wine, but actually there's a good... More

I am not sure why anyone would stay here any longer than one night and the owner seems to feel the same. You arrive in the village looking for it to no avail then you see the sign Havenz Canoes. Go in there to get the key and directions to the place 2-3km north. Don't see how anyone can see... More
