We had a one night stay here. The cottage is well located & within walking distance of the Pancake Rocks & to the local Tavern for a meal/drink. It is clean, comfortable, quiet & spacious though a little dated. Well equipped with everything needed for a short stay. Wifi for payment which we chose not to use. There are no... More

Comfortable accommodation. Conveniently located for travellers without a car -- intercity bus stop is fairly close, as is the tavern, where one can get a meal. Bruce, the manager, could not have been more obliging.

We stayed two nights. As another reviewer mentioned there was a smell which the manager said was new linoleum (probably the glue). If you left the windows open you didn't notice it. We had a two bedroom cottage with a queen, and 3 twin beds. A big lounge. Kitchen. Toilet and shower. The queen bed was very comfortable. One night... More

Usually stay at the resort, but decided to try this little gem out and it certainly did not disappoint! You cant get any closer to the beach, the rooms are incredibly clean, spacious and the beds are exceptionally comfortable. The linen in soft and warm and of very high quality. You have the pub a 5 minute walk around the... More

We selected this location because it was intermediate in price between a much more expensive property down the road and a backpackers stay. As some other reviewers have noted, the decor is dated, but the room comfortably served its purpose for us. We made our own dinners in the kitchenette and had room to spread out and organize our clothes... More

The Punakaiki Beachfront Motel (as it is now known) is indeed right on the beachfront only 500 metres from the Pancake Rocks. The units are large, and although slightly dated are comfortable and well equipped. The sound of the surf pounding on the shore only a few metres away is a wonderful way to drift off to sleep. The area... More

We stayed in a two bedroom cottage, which was about 100m from the sea. The cottage was spacious, but quite old. There was a strange/unpleasant/strong smell inside (had to keep windows open most of the time and it was cold outside). A small heater was there, but not strong enough to keep the place warm (even after we closed all... More

We stayed here one night & wished we could have stayed longer. The manager, Bruce, was very welcoming & helpful. Our accommodation was spacious & clean (recently renovated). The rooms are virtually on the beach & when we stayed you could hear the sea roar as the weather had been rough. Great value for money.

We stayed one night in a self contained bungalow at Punakaiki Cottage motel on a trip around the Sth Island. The Manager Bruce was very welcoming and friendly. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Practically on the beach, great place to chill out and enjoy the fabulous sunset with a glass of wine. Great place to stay!

We really enjoyed our accommodation and really could not have expected more for a place so close to the sea. Everything was so clean and had everything that you would want for your stay. Our only regret was that we had only arranged for a one night stay, The lady manager was so friendly and gave us good advice of... More
