We stayed two nights in an ecosuite. The views of the ocean and rainforests from the balcony were stunning. The beech is very close and we picked up several peices of greenstone. The food at the restaurant was excellent and the service very good. It has super views over the ocean so try and get a window seat. The only... more

Very good location on the beach, only 5 minutes walk from the Pancake Rocks. Good views, comfortable rooms, although they had strange porthole windows that you couldn't really cover properly, so you had to like the early morning light. Restaurant is a bit pricey, the food is nice enough but not that special, although the view from the restauarant is... more

Good Morning Thank you for taking the time to place feedback on your recent stay with us at the Punakaiki Resort. As you mentioned the resort is designed to complement and maximise the surrounding environment and being that we are located on the wild west coast and in a national park, both the beach and national park have an influence...

Beautiful location, friendly staff, room seemed abit shabby and deck had full ashtray on the hand rail...restaurant has great view but lacked atmosphere and food was average especially the seafood which given the location should not be an issue. more

We stayed one night at the Punakaiki Resort, and found the accommodations average. The room was large, and a little cold (the heater seemed overpowered by the size of the room). The room had a nice view of the ocean (about 200-300 meters away), and the bathroom had a rather small shower. The Punakaiki rocks attraction was a 2 minute... more

There isn't much choice right in Punakaiki and so you certainly wouldn't consider staying anywhere other than here. The Chalet style rooms are right on the beach and so the views are stunning. The rooms are very good. Very large and lovely large shower in the bathroom. The bar is unfortunately not good at all. Full of children having dinner... more

There are not a lot of places to stay in Punakaiki but the resort is a solid hotel right on the beach and just a few hundred meters from the pancake rocks and blowholes, the main attraction of Punakaiki. It's worth a stay here, though there's not a lot to do in town. The price was certainly right for such... more

I loved Punakaiki resort. Our room was right above the beach. We could hear the waves all night. The room was nice and comfortable. The "beach" was not a sandy beach, but rather a pebbly beach. The pebbles were all different colors. At each end of the beach were small examples of the pancake rocks. The restaurant at the resort... more

The west coast of the south island of New Zealand is rightly famed for it's virtually untouched natural beauty. And the Punakaiki resort is testament to this beauty. Set on the beach front within a quick (uphill) walk to the famous Punakaiki 'pancake rocks', the accommodation here is sublime. Beautifully appointed rooms, overlooking the rugged beach, and backed onto native... more

Booked a villa (room 309) thinking that the villa would be located directly at the beach. Big mistake. A road separates the eco villas and obviously also the villas from the reception, dining and other accomodation area which is directly on the beach. Reception and staff at the restaurant are not very friendly which was a surprise as almost anybody... more
