Dennis and Raelyn are gracious hosts. This is the first time I have asked the hosts to come and visit us! Dennis took us fishing with his friend Roger. Organised it all and thought of everything for us. Had a fantastic night / afternoon on the beach reeling them in :-) This is a genuine home stay where you sleep... More

We had a lovely one-night stay with Dennis and Raelyn. Dennis cooked excellent fish and meat on the barbeque for our dinner. After we sat chatting with Dennis, Raelyn and their friends until late, learning from genuine locals all about life on the West Coast. The location was spectacular, especially during the storm we experienced there. Dennis and Realyn gave... More

Dennis and Raelyn are amazing hosts with loads of local knowledge. The location is amazing, overlooking the sea. We had a wonderful stay and Dennis shared so many amazing stories. Raelyn and Dennis could not be more accommodating. We highly recommend staying as it is very roomy, comfortable and they are great company.

Dennis and Raelynn were wonderful hosts during our stay. My husband and I decided to do a home stay over a hotel, and we were not disappointed. Their home is lovely and across the highway from the coast. Dennis kept us entertained during our evening there, and the dinner served was great. Dennis had caught the fish himself.

Dennis and Raelyn were wonderful hosts for our one night stay in their home. It was wonderful to spend time with some West Coast locals and have some great conversations and hear about their lives in the west. The dinner was magnificent with fish and venison caught and cooked by Dennis and a huge array of salads prepared by Raelyn.... More

We particularly wanted to stay with real New Zealanders rather than spending 3 weeks in a camper van. Bluewaves Homestay ticked that box perfectly. It's not a hotel or even a guest house - it's a family home and you stay in one of their bedrooms - with your own private bathroom across the hall. Our room had a great... More

I stayed here for one night as part of my five week adventure on the South Island. I had a room with a shared bath. I have mixed feelings about the place. When I arrived, the hosts were visiting with friends who ended up staying overnight in their camper in the driveway. There were no other guests that night. The... More

It took us a little while to find Bluewaves, as it's about 10K south of Punakaiki itself, but once we did, we were welcomed warmly in to a family home. We were fed an excellent homely meal by Raelyn, and entertained by Dennis with his many stories. I think this is certainly the place that we stayed where we laughed... More
