This is my third attempt to review Malihom Private Estate - the others were lost to technology. I have persisted because this property is so worthwhile. We planned 2 weeks in Penang and wanted to mix up the experience between Georgetown and Batu Ferrangi. I found Malihom - and what a find it is. Perched approx 1200ft above sea level.Uninterruptred... I recently stayed at Malihom Private Estate and what can I say. It was more than I expected. I didn't think that it would be spectacular, but I was so wrong. The place is beautiful, the staff are amazing and the food is outstanding! My wife and I stayed in the Sankhara Barn and it was perfect! Best place to... More

We spent 2 nights at Malihom recently. Everything was just perfect. From it's serene location, to the delightful staff, excellent food, awesome sunsets and the fantastic infinity pool. To add to it all, there were only two other cabins that were occupied for the duration of our stay, adding to the exclusivity. Every nook and corner of the well manicured... More

Malihom, a secluded and tranquil mountaintop retreat, is the best place to relax after spending a few days in Georgetown. The staff is very friendly … some of the friendliest we have ever encountered in Asia. The hotel management, a wonderful family, went out of their way to accommodate our needs. Among the most attentive people we’ve ever come across... More

We returned for part two of our honeymoon at the end of March 2014! We had spent one night at Malihom back in August 2012 and this time pushed to 3. As before we were so, so pleased to arrive. The staff were some of the friendliest we have ever had the privilege to meet. I urge you to ignore... More

Malihom's staff add to the charm of this mountain top retreat in Penang. A collection of modified Thai rice barns the accommodation is both different and very comfy! Sunset from the "tower' with a glass of wine before dining al fresco sets the tone. The food is excellent both western and local, the Burmese breakfast 'soup' is a must try, and... More

We made the decision to have a weekend breakaway at malihom after looking through so many good reviews despite that its actually located in my own state. We manage to get my favourite barn khanun ( the other is aloun) after some difficulty in online reservation. I like the sunken bathtub and the bathroom is really ' open' . We... More

Very good idea with this hide-away high up in the mountains.Lovely views and only noise heard-birds singing. But the staff speaks very very bad english,it is hard to get them to understand and even more difficult to understand them. But nice and friendly. The place looks very run down-I know perfectly well that there has been no rain for a long... More

This lodge style property at the southern end of Penang Island is built on a steep hill 500M above sea level. It is reached via a dramatically steep concrete access road - I recommend using taxis booked by Malihom as some drivers apparently won't tackle this climb. Accommodation is in elevated wooden Thai style "bahns". These are small but quite... More

Malihom, a private estate, perched on the crest of the southern end of Penang, offers a tranquil getaway. Our unique location offers stunning and uninterrupted panoramas from every room, providing all our guests with ever-changing but always immense and breathtaking views. The fresh air, myriad sounds of the birds and stunning views are a feast for your senses whilst delighting in our array of home cooked cuisine and carefully selected collection of wines. We are an intimate boutique Retreat offering a more personal style of service and an intimate atmosphere that is only found in boutique establishments. The estate comprises a cluster of traditional Thai rice barns which have been carefully converted with modern comforts while respecting traditional charms. There are generous indoor and outdoor seating areas to allow guests to soak in the views and the cool breeze from the horizon as well as yoga and holistic therapies offering an array of relaxing treatments. At the hub of the estate lies the main wing which centers the reception, dining and living areas. The barns are linked to the main wing by way of footpaths. Each barn, with its own unique character has a private garden or a deck. This arrangement provides guests with privacy and seclusion. Our unique picturesque settings will provide that unforgettable difference to any occasion whether a romantic stay for two, group vacation, a Conference venue with an edge or a unique Wedding reception to reminisce. ... more   less
