We absolutely loved this place and the sister hostel (camping only) on the coast. We were there more than a year ago and still remember the place and the staff well. Such care and attention. We were able to camp in the garden for slightly less than the dorm rate. It was a little noisy (from the street) out in... More

We stayed in a twin private, shared bathroom and thought the room was large enough for two people with lockers and comfy beds. The kitchen is well equipped, drinking water is free and guests are greeted with a welcome drink (beer or soft drink). These are also available for purchase. A large garden in the back is perfect for relaxing... More

This is a hostel you hope to enjoy every travel you make. Perfect rooms, clean and with real nice design. Besides that a big garden, a perfect kitchen and a living room with tv for movies to watch. The owner Darren and his staff are great, very welcoming. I stayed 4 days instead of the 2 days I had planned..... More

Thank you for your kind review, We also enjoyed hosting you and certainly hope that you do return. Thanks for pointing out all of our facilities, we would just like to mention that the Bbq pit is almost ready and that a mariposario onsite is being planned for the very near future. Meanwhile we are busy revelling in las fiestas... More

Everything a backpacker could want and more! I stayed in the dorm and the owner Darren has thought of everything a traveller could want. The most comfortable beds, plenty of storage for luggage, great hot shower... The list goes on. It is not too big or small so everyone gets together and hangs out, lots of games to keep everybody... Hello and thanks for the great review! The comfortable beds, ample storage space and all of the other little details are very important to us .... maybe you have to have been backpacking for years and staying in not so good hostels to fully realise all that, and we have certainly done plenty of that! Restless nights on thin mattresses... More

$20 per night, private twin room with shared bathroom, 11th - 16th September 2014 Vibe: We stayed there in low season, so it was a very laid-back and homey environment. Lots of space, real attention to detail and quality throughout. We've experienced a lot of hostels on our travels and this is definitely one of our favourites. Location: Juayua ('why-ooh-a')... Thank you for your excellent and in-depth recommendation! Very hard to add anything to your very well written review, apart from saying that from tomorrow onward we will also have a large fire-pit/Bbq to offer in addition to the huge, well equipped kitchen. Also like to mention that our puppy Billie is finally settling down - she is still a... More

I stayed here this past summer and Casa Mazeta was probably my favorite hostel of the three countries I visited: El Salvador, Guatemala, and Belize! Darren was an amazing host and had a way of really bringing everyone together. The nights I stayed we all did karaoke night at the local bar and played Jenga in Spanish. So much fun!... More

Hola and thanks a million for your review! I remember very well that karaoke night - still reeling from your powerful voice ..... Janis Joplin incarnate! You stopped the bar dead, we had several others with beautiful voices also and all I could contribute was some wailing. 'You play the instruments and I'll play the bufoon' !! Seriously consider a... We stayed here for 5 nights and we could have stayed way longer. The owner Darren und Susanna were so nice, had a lot of tips for us and a lot of interesting things to talk about. The place itself is clean, with a big area for hanging out, a huge well-equipped kitchen and a free welcome drink. There is... More

$9 for a dorm room and totally worth it! A comfortable dorm, warm showers, well equipped kitchen, a perfect set up for movie nights and a stunning garden. We were offered a welcome drink on arrival and spent the whole afternoon chilling in the garden after the food market and waterfall walk.

Again, we can but offer our humble thanks for your kind review! $9.00 dorm room with a free welcome drink .... why not! Think we are the only hostel in Central America to offer such craziness!! We have set Casa Mazeta up more in style as a guesthouse, but with all the features that a backpacker needs. As such, we... More

The owner put a lot of thought and care into making this house a home away from home. The rooms and common area are comfortable, the garden lovely and the kitchen one of the best hostel kitchens I've seen. The place in clean and calm. Thanks a million for your lovely review. A home from home is exactly as we envisaged Casa Mazeta when we took over two years ago, so it's great to hear that verified and endorsed by so many wonderful guests. So glad that you felt so much 'en casa', however you are quite right to say that this whole area is... More

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed our time here. The location is good within walking distance to everything (small town). The staff is friendly and helpful.
