Darren has done an amazing job with this hostel to make it your home for however long you stay. The dorm bunk beds are huge and really comfy and everything is so clean. There is one bathroom for 8 people (6 in dorm and 2 in private room), which didn't cause us any issues but you do have to wait... More

Casa Mazeta is a funky, clean hostel in Juayua. You can buy beer and coffee on the honor system. The main building is homey and Darren, the owner, is great to talk to. There is a courtyard full of plants and statues. We stayed in "La Pina," which is a small room with its own patio. It's worth staying in... More

Thanks for the funky review guys. So glad you liked our newest room. An outdoor shower and toilet may not be to everyone`s liking, but here in the tropics, we think it`s perfect! Shame about the mosquitoes, but why didn`t you use that mosquito net supplied? Also, we always stock a variety of coils and plug-ins to combat this problemita.... More

I think everything has been said before on here, I can't be original, it is an absolute must stop on Ruta de Flores, we planned two nights and stayed seven. The openness and friendliness of Darren and his staff just makes it difficult to leave even for the day. You must do the waterfall tour, it's so much fun and... More

Mil gracias chicos! Thank you very much for your review. We loved having you here for so long, especially watching the World Cup 3 times a day with you and all the rest of the crowd. Sometimes a group just come together and gel and are fantastic. You were that group. As a hostel owner, there is no better feeling... More

La Casa Mazeta was the most welcoming and comfortable hostel environment we've ever been to. Darren is an excellent host and his house is lovely. The staff there is top-notch and one if them is the best waterfall tour guide ever. The waterfall tour was one of our favorite parts about staying at La Casa Mazeata, but we'd like to... More

Wow, wonderful comments guys ! Thanks a million !! Hard to add anything to your review, except to say that yes, Lorena is super sweet, as are all our staff. Maybe we have been lucky in finding perfect staff, or maybe it´s just because almost all Salvadoreños are kind and helpful. It´s a country full of sweetness ! The big... More

Upon arrival we were greeted by Lauren who was lovely and very helpful. We checked into our room which was the twin room with shared bathroom. Lovely review, much appreciated. The garden is getting more and more gorgeous, now the roses and carnations, the fuchsias, the orchids and gardenias are fully established and showing their beauty. Our friends stayed here last year and raved about it and so we had to come and check it out and glad we did. Thank you for your extensive review. As always, fully appreciated. Our avocado tree is still giving us a bounteous supply of huge fruit, and we are all too happy to share that with all. Thank you guys. I´m rather touched (and a little embarrassed!) at your rave review. We also felt sad at your departure. Best part of owning a hostel is meeting people like yourselves, but it is also bitter-sweet when you watch friends leave. But friends you have become.
