Everything a backpacker could want and more! I stayed in the dorm and the owner Darren has thought of everything a traveller could want. The most comfortable beds, plenty of storage for luggage, great hot shower... The list goes on. It is not too big or small so everyone gets together and hangs out, lots of games to keep everybody... $20 per night, private twin room with shared bathroom, 11th - 16th September 2014 Vibe: We stayed there in low season, so it was a very laid-back and homey environment. Lots of space, real attention to detail and quality throughout. We've experienced a lot of hostels on our travels and this is definitely one of our favourites. Location: Juayua ('why-ooh-a')... I stayed here this past summer and Casa Mazeta was probably my favorite hostel of the three countries I visited: El Salvador, Guatemala, and Belize! Darren was an amazing host and had a way of really bringing everyone together. The nights I stayed we all did karaoke night at the local bar and played Jenga in Spanish. So much fun!... More

We stayed here for 5 nights and we could have stayed way longer. The owner Darren und Susanna were so nice, had a lot of tips for us and a lot of interesting things to talk about. The place itself is clean, with a big area for hanging out, a huge well-equipped kitchen and a free welcome drink. There is... More

$9 for a dorm room and totally worth it! A comfortable dorm, warm showers, well equipped kitchen, a perfect set up for movie nights and a stunning garden. We were offered a welcome drink on arrival and spent the whole afternoon chilling in the garden after the food market and waterfall walk.

The owner put a lot of thought and care into making this house a home away from home. The rooms and common area are comfortable, the garden lovely and the kitchen one of the best hostel kitchens I've seen. The place in clean and calm. We spet a lot of time just relaxing and chatting with the manager and other... More

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed our time here. The location is good within walking distance to everything (small town). The staff is friendly and helpful. They even offer a welcome drink upon arrival. The commons areas are great and clean with a living room (tons of DVDs and games) or the lovely garden. The... More

This is definitely my favourite hostel so far in Central America. At $9 a night for a dorm bed it's a little more pricey than what we've been paying so far for hostels throughout Central America, but it's definitely worth it. We received a wonderful welcome to the hostel, being shown around and advised on everything we might need to... More

Casa Mazeta felt like a home away from home. After a busy day out that's exactly what we were looking for. The private room is big and cheap and the whole place is so spacious and so clean. Its a really nice atmosphere, chill and peaceful. You also get a free beer, kitchen has everything and free water and the... More
