I've been several times to the Mercure Hotel in ludenscheid. I think it's the only 4 stars hotel in the region - although quite active region with lots of factories and business travelers.
The hotel has all what you can ask from a 4-stars hotel : swimming pool, sauna, bars, conference rooms= , wireless internet. Breakfast is very rich and satisfactory. Very clean hotel with very friendly staff (but not all with english language knowledge).
The only negative point would be it's location at the end of the city, a bit far from the ancient downtown where are the shopping malls, the restaurants, and the pedestrian streets.... but anyway it's a small town and would take only about 15 minutes walk to there.
