The warm welcome, amazing food (try the huge steaks - as in half a cow! - cooked to perfection on an open log fire), the centuries of history and tradition that pervade this most beautiful building (though the staff are a bit younger!) and exceptional value for money

This a special place, a museum to stay a night, the rooms are not modern but they are special, everything in this place is based on an old building, nothing is square but the place is unique and the choice of meat and the preparation at an opener place is fantastic don't miss a good steak from the grill! The rooms are full of character. We were a family travelling and our room had a four poster bed on one room and a double bed in the joining room, with two showers. We tried to have showers at 6am but unfortunately could not get hot water. The beds were comfortable as was the lounge area in the room. The... More

An authentic hotel in a rustique village, in an old charming ambiance. If you choose to eat in the restaurant, which I recommend, start slowly because the food is delicious and/ but plenty. Real burgundian! Also a simply delicious breakfast with fresh croissants and baguette.

You will either love this hotel or not. It has fabulous old fashioned charm with good facilities. It makes no bones about the fact that it is an authentique auberge de campagne. I reckon it will be great in the summer when you can dine outside. The meat is cooked au feu de bois and the prices are really 'sympa'.... More

We've come here for years, the perfect place to stop en route from the Netherlands to the South of France. The traditional atmosphere allows us to let go of our busy lives. Great food, nice people, wonderful atmosphere.

I read the negative reviews before booking and was, therefore, happily surprised. We had a superb room with a separate lounge and logburner (Tristan & Yseult), both the bathroom and separate loo were very clean. We could have done with more towels and toiletries as there were 5 of us and the bathmat had seen better days. We arrived very... More

We stayed for one night in a family room called Gustave. It was absolutely filthy- hadn't been cleaned for ages. There was no loo paper, the loo seat was broken, the shower was broken and dangerous because the temperature control was unreliable. I can't recall having a worse hotel experience in many years of travelling in France. Avoid this hotel... More

Much character to commend it, although the rooms and the hotel in general could be cleaner. It's location is very attractive being in a lovely village and also close to Beaune, the centre of the Burgundy wine region. Have revisited the hotel on several occasions and, with the reservation stated above, I would have no hesitation in recommending it for... More
