This is the only resort in Bolpur-Santiniketan from West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. We were in Std Delux AC Cottage - specious room with good amenities. Room service is prompt. Restaurant serves good food - bengali and north indian dishes are better. Room comes with LCD TV, Std AC, decent furnishing. Location is great with ample parking space (they... More

We stayed there for two nights in August, 2014. We booked one non ac room in ground floor. It's a very well maintained property. Enough space available for car parking. Room and bathroom are very much clean and spacious too. Food was fresh and tasty. But stick to only Indian cuisines, otherwise they will messed up. staffs were helpful and... More

The government run tourist lodge is best property in town. Don't expect star hotel facilities in Bolpur. But its clean, affordable and centrally located. Has adequate space and parking. Food is also not very bad. Apart from one odd recently introduced home stays by private individuals, this is the best place in Bolpur. Book on the net at WBTDC site

Conveniently located. Enough car parking space. We stayed for two nights in one of the cottages which are now renovated and good. Bathroom is very basic but clean and big in size. TV and AC worked fine. Food menu gives very limited choice but quality of the preparations are good. Staffs were courteous. Overall, the Government property is recommendable.

The first impression was a decent location, Large cottages with good space inside & reasonably well maintained despite being govt owned & managed. Food was very good at low prices, huge quantities. The Best Part Was the service- While we traveled from kolkata by taxi ,I was keen to travel back by the famed SHANTINIKETAN EXPRESS TRAIN, the hotel staff... More

An outside glimpse may give you a great idea about this place but apathetic staff and unreasonable rates are a downer for sure. The AC room we booked had its lampshade broken, leaks on the bathroom roof, a non-functioning AC remote, and a somewhat dirty bed sheet (it was once white - perhaps, but was now yellowish and dirty). The... More

Though I always have lunch at the Tourist Lodge whenever I am in Santiniketan, I have stayed there after a long time. The property is well maintained, compared to other government properties. The attitude, however, is a little laid back, though courteous. The food has a homely feel to it, though this time I spotted a rat among the stacked... More

Well, I would like to inform other travellers about my experience in this hotel. The rooms look neat and clean but actually they are not. The door mats are very dirty, it seems it has not been changed in decades, the mosquito net and the blanket which was kept in the wardrobe was extremely dirty! But the room sizes are... More

Shantiniketan is a small town near Bolpur in the Birbhum District of West Bengal and about 212 kms north of Kolkata. It is famous due to Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, whose vision became what is now a University town - Visva-Bharati University. The place now attracts thousands of visitors each year. Shantiniketan is also home to Amartya Sen, the 1998... More
