I stayed there with my husband, while he was travelling on business to Pondicherry; it was a lovely experience as the hotel is bang on the street bordering the sea; the location is excellent and the service of the staff is prompt and extremely helpful. The setting of the hotel and its construction is good and it provided a much... more

In common with other reviewers we had a bad start to our stay. We arrived in the afternoon and had a long wait for our rooms - "suite" - to be prepared. We were eventually offered a drink - a gin and tonic if we paid for our tonic which was slightly surprising. We chose not to take up the... more

This is a chic, modern, boutique-style hotel, and we had a fantastic stay here. We paid the published rack rate, which is not a bad deal. There seemed to be a couple of hotels in this class in Pondicherry (including the sister hotel of this one) and I think probably all would be fine. Rooms were comfortable, clean, and well-decorated.... more

We stayed in Promenade from 10th to 12th April. We had taken two rooms. Immediately after checking in we had to ask Housekeeping to clean the rooms once again. The bathmat had to be changed. The toilets had to be cleaned again. The service in the restaurant was bad. As per the HODs of the hotel, they do not have... more

It was a great location, but service was terrible. We had a small baby (18 months old) with us, and their was no empathy from the staff. Instead of trying to help with the check in on arrival they siomply made us wait for over 15 minutes before someone helped us. Response to services request was very slow. Food quality... more

expensive hotel in comparison to Pondicherry prices but the sea-view facing property is worth it. Swimming pool is too small for the normal hotel standards but again if you stay there then it is for the sea view and not the swimming pool. Food was amazing but the service could improve as per the 5 star standards. Staff was helpful... more

Selling itself as a boutique hotel, but not realy succeeding. The rooms were so minimally furnished there was hardly anywhere to unpack clothes. The bathroom was tiny, and although superficially smart the standard of finish was awful. The staff were the least friendly and helpful we met on our 3 week tour round Southern India, and the food OK but... more

I must start by saying we arrived not expecting much. We had been bumped from Hotel de L'Orient by our travel agent and had wanted a heritage hotel. This is an indian take on a boutique hotel and misses by miles. The design in Ok, Mirrors, flat screen, leather walls but it is badly executed so just misses. That would... more

Really pleasant stay at the promenade. Asked for a good room but was upgraded to a sea facing room after to the reception manager. Staff were really helpful and make the stay even more memorable for my fiancee as they wished us a happy married life. Perhaps the only sea-facing property, slightly expensive but after staying there for 4 days,... more

Comfortable moderin room in a restored villa by the promenade in Pondicherry. Lots of nice touches such a welcome drink, handmade biscuits and good quality toiletries. The bathroom was a bit dated. Didnt try the restaurant as it was a buffet and there are lots of lovely french restaurants in town. Breakfast was pretty average. Good central location and very... more
