Stayed her for 5 nights with my husband in July/Aug. Our hosts Michelle and Francis were most welcoming and helpful. The food was excellent and the menu and the origins if the products were all explained so patiently. The local Basque produce and dishes were always available which was lovely. We were there during the local festival with wonderful basque... More

We stayed for a week at Chilhar. Espelette is a great base for exploring Basque country. The hotel is lovely- the rooms are a decent size and very comfortable. The hotel garden and restaurant are very nice. The hotel staff were very friendly and tremendously helpful.

Stayed just the one night - shame we couldn't stay longer. This hotel is nicely tucked away a stone's throw from the main streets. Hotel was extremely clean and quiet. We received a warm welcome and the hostess was at pains to be as helpful as possible. Sadly the restaurant was closed for an evening meal but if breakfast was... More

An August weekend is not the best time to find one's way to a strange place, but the helpful staff set the tone for our stay in guiding us to the hotel to unload luggage and dog, and then to the hotel's private (and locked) parking area. Our room on the first floor was clean and well-laid out, although not... More

The hotel lies the middle of the small village which lives totally on its association to the AOC Espelette peppers which can be seen everywhere dangling on the housefronts. So you know what is on the menu. The staff at the hotel are extremely helpful and pleasant all the way down to the kitchen staff. Very nice breakfast which can... More

Very clean, beautiful, good hospitality. The restaurant is also good. You can get dericious traditinal food, reasonably. 非常に清潔で、美しく、おもてなしも良いです。併設されているレストランも美味しく、バスクの伝統料理を安く食べれます。

This is a good hotel to get away from it all. Hotel Chilhar is located in the center of Espelette in a pedestrianized area close to shops and restaurants serving traditional Basque dishes. The furnishings and bathroom fixtures appear to be new and updated, and my room had a nice view of the nearby mountains. I appreciated the friendly proprietor... More

Lovely hotel - perfect for our two night stopover driving through France to Spain. The hotel is in the centre of Espelette in an almost pedestrianised area. Plenty of free public parking nearby. Excellent breakfast on terrace. Very friendly.
