kokonga lodge was recommended by shebikeshebikes, and we were very glad of suzies advice. We rode past the lodge to Hyde and got Malcolm to pick us up and drop us back, leaving only 27 km to ride to meet the train at middlemarch. Kokonga lodge is spacious, clean, and welcoming. The drinks menu is reasonably priced. Dorothy cooked a... More

We recently stayed at Kokonga Lodge while cycling the rail trail. Dorothy provided a delicious three course gluten-free meal. Our room was very comfortable with lovely views of the countryside. Wine was available at restaurant prices. The shuttle bus service was also an extra charge.

A lovely peaceful place to stay, very homely great hosts and beautiful food will have to visit in the Autumn to see the beautiful Central Otago colours. Enjoyed walking down to the local church and swimming in the river, very relaxing

Wonderful stay at this little piece of paradise, right on the Rail Trail. Malcolm picked us up an hour earlier than arranged from Hyde, and we relaxed by soaking our tired muscles in an ensuite spa bath. Exceptional Otago views from the deck were enjoyed with a glass or two of wine before we enjoyed a wonderful meal cooked by... More

After a nightmare of a first day cycling the rail trail (30+ degree heat and a flat tyre) reaching the luxury of Kokonga Lodge supplemented by Malcolm and Dorothy's warm hospitality felt like achieving sanctuary! Their sympathetic understanding of what was required to help us feel human again; hot shower, glass of wine and nibbles out on their terrace looking... More

Hot stuffy rooms, no fans or ventilation. Nicely cooked food but not worth $65 per person. A disappointment overall. We were looking forward to a night of luxury as a reward on our last night of the rail trail but felt ripped off.

stayed when doing the rail trail- the lodge is right next to the trail on one of the best sections so we were on a high when we got there. Great food, great room with views overlooking the mountain. Hosts were friendly and keen to help in any way. Fantastic swimming hole nearby - just right for sore muscles. Would... More

We decided to "self guide" our Rail Trail Experience and we were really lucky to find the Konkonga Lodge. First class accommodation along the route allowed us to travel light and after 50 kilometer ride it was great to be welcomed to a place to relax and unwind. Our hosts, Malcolm and Dorothy, made us feel right at home -... More

Malcolm and Dorothy have a beautiful lodge set in a quiet valley looking towards a majestic range of mountains. We had a wonderfully relaxing afternoon after our trail ride, in the cool of their comfortable lounge room. In the evening we were treated to a delicious three course meal with an accompanying choice of New Zealand wines. Malcolm and Dorothy... More

Malcom collected us from the Hyde café. We arrived at the beautiful Kokonga lodge with fantastic views of the countryside. We relaxed with a ice cold beer before we were treated to a fine dinning experience.. the best meal on or off the trail. Dorothy is a great cook!! The room was excellent & had naturally made bathroom products for... More
