If you have loads of disposable cash then this place will relieve you of as much of it as possible. Sure the owners are nice, and the chateau quirky but value for money - No. I wanted to give the Chateau 3.5 stars but not possible. The rooms are very traditional but more thought and ingenuity should have been applied... More

Delightful calm, quiet family owned Chateau. Expensive, but lovely, with a wam welcome from the young owners. Set meal, but exquisitely served in a beautiful dining room. We travelled with a dog, so the groundfloor suite was perfect, as were the beautiful grounds with walks through the woods. The suite we had would be ideal for a family too, as... More

We only stayed one night on our drive down to the Pyrenees. Wish we could have stayed longer. Think this will warrant another visit to get the full experience as one night was not enough. Charming host and hostess, beautiful meal in the restaurant and a very impressive breakfast. More

Stayed only for one night here. lovely chateau only 12 rooms. Owners are the host and chef. very welcoming. great decor, lovely pool and gardens. a little out of the way. dinner is a set meal, so no choice of starter, main or dessert but the food was good 45 euro for 4 course. just so relaxed. would return. We stayed at Chateau de Saint Paterne for a couple of nights in September 2011. This chateau is located in a pretty, quiet village a few kilometres from Alencon. It is a really beautiful chateau set in lovely grounds. There was plenty free parking in the courtyard at the front of the building. We received a friendly welcome and given... More

We stopped at this wonderful chateau hotel on our way back from south west France. It is very conveniently sited just 5 minutes or so off the A28 on the outskirts of Alencon. My wife had her leg in plaster and our room was scheduled for the second floor but the delightful Madame de Valbray, whose husband owns the chateau,... More

We used this as a stop-over hotel for one night on our way down to the Dordogne and we could not fault it at all. The chateau is lovely, quirky and very relaxed and the hosts & staff are incredibly friendly. The room we had was super - chambre de la tour - full of character. We chose to dine... More

Reading some of the petty criticisms on here I had half expected them to be signed off with "by Princess - yes the one with the pea problem" - precious is not the word for these people. I would support the word used earlier of "Formiddable" as that does indeed sum up this chateau. From the moment we arrived to... More

Our 2nd night of honeymoon was spent at this chateau and it was wonderful. I am dismayed to read poor reviews of the dinner served. If you want prescriptive, go to a restaurant. We merely requested no mushrooms as wifey is allergic at 30 minutes notice and the food served was sublime. We had some beautiful seafood, which having parents... More

Very beautiful room, chateau and grounds with friendly and attentive hosts. Unfortunately something my boyfriend ate disagreed with him which somewhat ruined the overall experience. As a vegetarian I was fine! More
