This place is great for low budget travellers who want to dive. Our experience just wasn't that great and it has a feel of decline about it. The pool looked great but there was no loungers or chairs to make it seem a bit more welcoming and a place chill out. And yes the chickens are a pain, sorry to... More

My girlfriend and I stayed for 8 nights and we loved it! If you are traveling on a budget and you want to dive (why else would you go to Malapascua?) Purple snapper is really the place to go! They have a really nice promotion giving you a free backpacker room if you do 2 dives per room a day... More

We came to this resort after friends of ours had already been staying here for a couple of nights. The owner gave us a free room because we were doing Dive courses and diving daily with them. The dive cost is 1500 peso per dive including equipment which is a very good price for the island. Our dive instructor Kiko... More

At the beginning of may, we stayed in a backpacker room for two nights (the last one, by the bathroom block). As we were diving with the Tresher sharks the first morning (woke up at 4.20am) and were leaving the island the next morning with the first boat (woke up at 5.15am), we did not mind the chicken noise in... Although we didn't have a good impression of the property when we saw our room (backpacker room), Chuck's personal service and customer focus made up for it. He immediately transferred us to a nice poolside fan room with ample space and even lent us an extension cord for our many phones/tablets and gadgets. The restaurant, although only open in the... Our stay at the Purple Snapper wasn't as nice as planned and definetly overpriced compared to other resorts (with beach view!) on Malapascua. The reception was quite hard to get in touch with and was only very limited help (not available after the nightfall, not helpful to help you organize your stay on the island). The check out lasted for... More

We stayed here for Holy Week and were disappointed with the service of this place. The staff never greets you, the reception was closed at 8PM, the rooms aren't cleaned unless you tell them to do so and the staff even lost our keys to our room. The electric fan in one of the two rooms we booked didn't work... More

I will start by saying this is a review for the restaurant, accommodation, and diving, all of which we experienced during our stay. Accommodation: The rooms are basic but decent for the price that you pay. The owner is very friendly, and helped us out when the island was very busy. We stayed in the backpackers rooms, which are clean... More

Purple Snapper is a reasonably priced resort compared to many others on the island and will suffice if all you need is a pillow for your head every night. However, note that whip they provide clean bedsheets and towel, it might not be the cleanest around, and you might find yourself in one without hot shower although it is not... More

Where to start... Firstly, I have to admit that the price is pretty fair. If you need a cheap room then this place will be fine. Also if it wasn't for the current dive manager we definitely would not have bothered with this place. Check in was a problem when they couldn't find us in the system. Then we were... More
