From the moment you arrive at this place you can feel it is special. Ruby is one of the most lovely host I have ever encounted (Martin your nice too). As we were Australians she upgraded us to a warmer cabin, no extra cost, which was just beautiful very secluded, this is a quiet peaceful place half hour from town... More

Cheers guys.. it makes me so happy to know my guests are happy. The weather has been even colder, so you are probably glad to be back in Aus now. All the best, and I have passed on your comments to Raewyn and Grant at the pub. More

perfect in every way. Calmness, character, value ... Got the lot. Not near any large centres but perfect to relax. Visit the coast and the kaori museum. Self cater or dine with the hosts. Breakfast delivered to lodge either cooked or toast and cereal and fruit and yoghurt!

Set around a small lake a collection of bungalows hidden in a valley. Very well done and very well laid out its hard to fault. The other reviews say it all, really. Only think missing is that they have no maps anywhere of the local area so I have enclosed one showing the path to the beach and the location... More

Excellent very relaxing and secluded sanctuaries. The surroundings are very private and the piece and quiet was wonderfull just listening to nature. We stayed in lodge 2 and was just wonderful. We took advantage of the wonderful home cooked meals @ a very reasonable price but you can cook up a storm if that's what you are into. Great facilities... More

We used this as a base for our recent weekend training camp with the NZDBA at lake Ka Iwi Lakes. Greeted by the wonderful Ruby on arrival and made our way to lodge 3 over a foot bridge passing eels and swans in the lake. Lodge 3, a modern large studio with a huge tiled bathroom, kitchen, entertainment unit with... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful grounds, charming modern units and wonderful hosts. A short walk to explore the lake and surrounds. We also enjoyed a tasty home cooked meal. One further plus is having Sky Sport available.

The villas are located in a large rural location featuring a lake and wonderful landscaped gardens. We stayed in a delightful studio overhanging the main lake with huge outside patio giving peaceful views of black swan, ducks and numerous other birds on the water. Very helpful introduction from Ruby on arrival. Access to our lodge was via a boardwalk over... More

My wife and I took a 1 night break from our busy life and it seemed like a long weekend! ruth and Noel have a most amazing property set amongst ponds, reeds and bird wildlife. Ruth has taken so much care into setting the lodges up to make them comfortable. Number 1 being the bed ..Very comfortable indeed!. If weekending... More

We have rent a small pavillon/house, very attractive modern architecture. It is romantically located together with other small pavillons around a pond. Lots of flowers, total private garden with terrace, nice and spacious rooms. The settlement is far from any bigger town and choice of shops and restaurants thus extremely limited - but you are close to a beautiful lake... More

This was my second visit. It's a beautiful setting with separate lodges overlooking a lake. Very quiet and peaceful so one could definitely retreat here. Only a short walk to the Kai Iwi Lakes and to the coast through paddocks. There's a spa and plenty of DVDs for wet days or lazy evenings. Bicycles to use. Great hosts and Ruby... More
