We had decided to add a few days touring onto our New Zealand holiday. We arrived in Baylys Beach having not booked any accommodation and stumbled upon Sunset View Lodge. The rooms are furnished to a high standard, were very comfortable and we had a beautiful view across the pool to the sunset. Our stay at Sunset View will always... More

We stayed here on a Friday and Saturday in March. I have to agree with many of the other reviews: friendly welcome, spacious room, stunning sunsets. Breakfast was OK, nothing special, but did include my favourite - fresh fruit and yoghurt. We didn’t see anyone else at breakfast as I think we were the only guests. Pam was away on... More

I am a South African, originally from Cape Town, now living on the beautiful west coast of England. I arrived in Christchurch a week ago touring New Zealand South and North Island and saw many beautiful places en-route, however as soon as I arrived at Sunset View Lodge, I felt so much at home, I didn't want to leave. Lovely well appointed room. Room was large with easy access to the pool. The only down side to the room was the tiny TV. Nice big en-suite. 1030 checkout was appreciated. Good parking. Close to a good restaurant. If we are ever back in Dargaville we will defiantly stay here again.

I stay at Sunset Loadge a few times a year when up their. Took me a while to get around to it, but definitly the best place to stay in Dargaville. Pam and Neil are great hosts and nothing is a problem. Breakfast is just what you want to set you up for the day and the room is first... More

At the end of a long day, we ended up in Dargaville. Neil met us and settled us in. He was friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The view of the sea was stunning. The room was cozy and clean and warm. We loved it. In fact, so comfortable, we never left for dinner. We have travelled a lot, all... More

This lodge is beautifully sited in countryside as you arrive into Baylys Beach. Our room was immaculately clean and had a balcony with a lovely view of the sunset over the sea. We were a bit further from the sea than I expected but the setting was impressive. We had take aways from Sharkys and their beef burger is definitely... More

Have just got back from a trip to NZ with my mum and spent one night at Baylys Beach. I was suprised to read some of the negative reviews as it was not our experience. We were met by the friendly owner who settled us in. The room was lovely and clean, and the rural setting was pretty. It was... More

I think we would have enjoyed our stay here a lot more if we hadn't been caught in what the locals call a "weather bomb". Wow - it rained, and the wind blew!! So - needless to say, we didn't do much exploring in the area, and can say very little about Baylys Beach as a destination, unfortunately. But I... More

Thanks Sue for your review, It sure was a rough night with the "weather bomb" that engulfed most of New Zealand that weekend, however you were safe on cosy in the well constructed lodge!!!! I am a friendly critter whether it is a single person or 13 guests (max the lodge can cater for) that need hosting . Our typical... More

When we designed our two-week round trip to northland staying at the best possible places, we were looking forward to our two nights at Sunset View Lodge, close to Baylys Beach. By the way, these were our most expensive nights (190 NZD a night) in the whole of our 5-week tour in NZ. When we got to Sunset View Lodge,... More
