El Dorado Casitas Royale is often celebrated for its serene atmosphere and prime location, earning high marks for both privacy and beach proximity. Guests regularly commend the resort's cleanliness and the exceptional staff, particularly butlers and bartenders, who are known for their attentive service. While the diverse dining options and luxurious pools receive accolades, especially the private and swim-up suites, some travelers have voiced dissatisfaction with unexpected charges and the value for the price. Room experiences, however, can be inconsistent, ranging from spacious and elegant to occasionally needing maintenance.

Our 9th trip to this beautiful resort! Shout out to our butlers Rene, Adrianna, Yalma , Alondra and Rafi. They made our stay perfect and the service is the best. This is our “happy place” . All the staff work so hard to make this place beautiful. We already have next year booked.

Hotel's Favorite
If you are wanting a quick overview here it is: This resort is beautiful, the food if great, the house wine is meh, the cocktails are strong, and the staff are second to none! If you are after a long winded, but detailed review here you go: The rooms: I hate to start on a negative, but the first room we were placed in was a bit disappointing. We had requested to be in the higher number rooms for several reasons and we were put in a room in the 26 section. The room was a bit darker than some other rooms I have stayed in here and if you are a beach person or need plenty of shade by the pool like we do it is not the best section. That being said, the pool here was lovely sunny and quiet so for some people this would be a great room – just not for us. On the third day we were moved to section 30, and this was so much better for us. The room was bright and airy, the outdoor shower huge (we didn’t even use the indoor one), the bed massive and comfortable and it was kept beautifully clean while we were there. The beach in front of this section was lovely and I know lots of people mention the artificial reef, but it is there for a reason and will hopefully be moved back out soon – honestly, you stop seeing it after a while. The pool gets plenty of shade in the afternoon too so my very light skinned partner could spend as long as he liked in the pool without being burnt. Housekeeping: As stated - the room was kept very clean and after informing the housekeeper what coffee we like she made sure to keep it filled up. The food: Santa Fe Breakfast is very good here – lots of Mexican options as well as a pastry cart, a juice cart and plenty hot coffee. At night Santa Fe becomes more of a steak house. The manager in Santa Fe was excellent, even when it is busy, he is aware of what is going on and ensuring all the guests are being taken care of. He helped me plan my partner’s birthday, which we unfortunately couldn’t stay for because of a family emergency, but the effort was still very much appreciated! Our server was David who we knew from other visits from D’Italia Casitas. He remembered us straight away and made every night we dined there special, bringing little surprises like the delicious empanadas! The NY strip there was the best; we ordered the shrimp main to make our own surf and turf which I would highly recommend. Kampai We only had dinner here our first night, but the menu was the same as the lunch menu. We had lunch there a lot and Mariano took excellent care of us. The starters are small here so it’s nice to order a few things to share – everyone raves about the spring rolls and with good reason. The mains are huge so if you don’t have a massive appetite I would ask for a smaller portion. The sushi is also good – they were happy for us to order sashimi even though it was not on the menu and the salmon was beautiful! Palms Baja fish tacos were amazing and it is lovely to sit near the ocean having lunch. They do have this slightly strange tendency here to just bring things in any order they are ready so your main can arrive in the middle of your starter, but tacos by the beach – who’s complaining? Chef's Market This is no longer a buffet, which I much prefer and the burgers here are hands down the best on the resort. They will cook them as you like them, buns were nicely toasted and toppings were generous and fresh. It was great to see Ivan back and he welcomed us with a table with a beautiful view each time we dined here. Wine Kitchen The food here has always been a highlight and we were not disappointed. The starters have grown in size from the last time we were there, so be careful not to over order. Jade I would say for dinner we preferred this over Kampai – they have a bigger selection and rather than just the rice or noodle options for mains they also had salmon and duck which was lovely. Our server Jonathan was so happy, friendly and he kept our wine glasses full. Habb This was probably the biggest surprise of the trip – I haven’t been too keen on Habb in past years, but they have really upped their food there. We enjoyed our first visit so much we went back a second night and tried some things we hadn’t tried before and the achari gosht was particularly yummy. D'italia Villas The food was ok, but the room was quite loud and echoey which detracts from the ambiance. The Italian in the Casitas is much superior in my opinion, although I would say they won in the battle of the tiramisus. D'italia Casitas We ate here the most this holiday and the food here was definitely some of the best across the resort! The portions are a bit smaller here which I loved as I like trying lots of different things and I think we tried most of the menu. The service here was also beyond excellent – Daniella and Karen were always so welcoming and Jairo helped us selecting wines and dishes and kept the meal at an excellent pace. We enjoy dining at a leisurely pace and he was happy to bring us our food in several courses and introduced us to the wonderful chef. We also did the Chef’s Table experience here for my birthday and it was one of the most wonderful evenings. The food was outstanding, but also the wine pairing from Fabiola was absolutely excellent. Speaking of excellent – it must be said that Fabiola is an absolute credit to the resort. She went out of her way to ensure we had an amazing trip and my birthday was as special as it could be. She is one of the reasons we return to this resort year after year and why we rave about the staff to friends and family! Fuentes Where to start with this one…. if you’re thinking about doing this just do it. The highlight of our holiday year after year and this year was no exception! We dined there twice and we were scheduled to go back again had the trip not had to be cut short. If you don’t know what it is, it is kind of like being in a tv studio watching a cooking show with a recommended wine pairing. The food is cooked in front of you and the food and wine is explained and then presented to you. There is also entertainment provided by the excellent Pablo and there are some fun surprises along the way! The fuego night in particular was exceptional with the show being fun and informative and the food was amazing! I am struggling to say which was my favourite dish as each course was sensational, but the beef tenderloin, the beef cheeks and the asparagus rolled bacon I left raving about. The desserts were also the best I had all holiday!! We have been coming to this resort for a while and Chef Barra has definitely managed to elevate an already great restaurant to an exceptional one. I would also highly recommend doing the wine pairing as it really compliments the whole experience and Edgar does a superb job of explaining and pairing some terrific wines. As Edgar says, ‘you are in Mexico, you should try the local produce’ and the Mexican beer and wines are no exception – you are probably never going to have an opportunity to try Mexican wines outside of Mexico and the ones they serve here are some of the best. Also, Tequila 1921 – no explanation needed! Bars: The beach bar opposite Kampai could really do with more than one server of a nighttime – he did his best, but one person to serve the kind of crowd that was normally there was just too much. Martini bar and Gucamayas are always fun. Bellini bar was our usual go to for an after-dinner drink and Ana took excellent care of us – the cocktails here were the best we had all holiday and she made me a special drink for my birthday. I do wish it was open just a little later though, maybe until 12 as this side of the resort everything shuts down at 11 and the walk to the Martini bar is not a short one. Beach Butler: I am quite an easy-going person, and the practice of our beach butler was my only real gripe this holiday. I am not going to go into it as once I mentioned it to someone it was quickly and efficiently rectified, but for balance I will say that perhaps management could investigate the ways in which some beach butlers ‘manage’ their sections. Concierge: Lastly, I want to say the biggest thank you to our concierge Luis!! He was excellent throughout our holiday – making sure we had dinner reservations, sorting special events, keeping on top of everything in our room – but he also made sure when we had a family emergency and had to leave four days early that it was a smooth process. I had pre-paid for my partner’s special birthday treat; this was cancelled and refunded that morning. He had the bellman with us and new transport info sorted asap, but most importantly he was there to make sure we were both as ok as we could be under the circumstances and made sure we got off safely. He made one of the most stressful and upsetting mornings that little bit easier and neither of us will ever forget his kindness and genuine concern and empathy. He really should be commended for an excellent job in very difficult circumstances. We will be back again next year and I hope to see him to thank him again in person.

We just returned from a four night adult only stay with 4 couples to celebrate my 50th birthday. I was a little worried going in by some of the bad reviews but I have to say that this place was fantastic. The casita room was large and had a view of the ocean. It had an outdoor shower and that may have been one of my favorite things about this trip. All of the food was fantastic. I've been to at least 7 other all inclusive resorts(including secrets) and this was by far the best food. All 8 people in our group felt the same way about the food, and one of them is a chef. If you complain about the food, then I think you are just a natural complainer. All of the staff was fantastic! Everyone was very friendly and provided great service. We rented two of the "cabanas" at the main pool for two of the days we were there. Worth every penny. We had Luis as our waiter both days and he was fantastic. Brought us drinks and food all day and very attentive. The beach is not swimmable, but if you do your research you should know that going in. Yes, the resort is large, but the walk from the casitas to the main pool/breakfast is such a beautiful walk along the ocean that I don't know how you can complain about that. We were one of the furthest casitas from the main pool and it was roughly a 10 minute walk. A few more golf carts running would be nice to transfer people around the resort. It seemed like people were always waiting for a golf cart. My only complaint is the restaurant reservation system. There must be a better way! The "concierge" is only there until 3 pm to make reservations. We arrived too late on a Friday to make reservations but were able to walk up to eat at Kampai. They seated 8 of us easily at 6:00 pm. When we tried to make dinner reservations on Saturday for the rest of the trip she said the system "resets" on Sunday and we would have to come back on Sunday to make the rest of the reservations. This makes no sense to me and was a hassle. It is also time consuming to wait if there is a line to make a reservation. It is a very antiquated system that needs to be modernized. You should be able to make a reservation on the app. I do think there should be a map on the app as well since the resort is so large. If there is, I couldn't find it. I had to carry my paper map with me. I also don't know why they can't seat more than 6 people at a table. Our group had to split up into tables of 4 to eat. Other than those minor issues, I was very happy. I would not hesitate to return!

Just another great trip to this property. This time in the Casitas, room 3017. Previous trips have been to a standard room at Royale and a swim up at Royale. Our room was great. The indoor shower was really good but the outside shower was incredible. The water pressure is crazy. It's like getting pummelled 😁. Our balcony had a great view. We had breakfast here twice. Awesome. Restaurants still very good. Our favourites this trip were Palms and Cocotal for breakfast. Lu on reception at Cocotal is the most charming person on the property. Lunch at Kick is superb. The BBQ burger is quite simply the best I've ever had. The chap who served us there in Wednesday lunch (wears glasses) was great. Pals was also good. We had some very nice evening meals at Kampai, Jade, Haab and Santa Fe. Best for me was the Casitas Italian. Superb food and service. Our pool bartender at 30 was Eduardo and he was excellent all week. Makes a very good cocktail.

I recently returned home from an incredible trip to the El Dorado Casitas! If you are looking for an absolutely beautiful resort with top notch service, look no further. I visited the Casitas with one of my best friends and we left feeling relaxed and our hearts happy (but also sad to have left and head back to reality). We all know that the world is not the easiest place to exist right now, so an escape to paradise always make you feel a little bit lighter. In summary, the people of El Dorado make it one of the best places in Mexico to visit. Every employee goes above and beyond to make sure every guest’s stay is comfortable and enjoyable. In addition to the people, the resort grounds and restaurants/bars are the ultimate place to escape. To start with, Lomas was on point at the Cancun airport and we had no issues checking in with the Lomas team and hopping in our private transportation to the resort. We arrived at El Dorado and were immediately greeted by both the Albertos and Leo to take our bags and escort us over to the Casita Lounge for check in. The lobby crew are so welcoming, friendly, and efficient! Later in our trip, we were able to easily locate the Lomas representative on the resort and confirm our transport back to the airport prior to the end of our trip. We had an early morning Lomas pickup (5:05am) which we were nervous about them forgetting to pick us up, but the bell boy was right on time to pick us up from our room around 4:30am and Lomas showed up right on time as well with zero issues. Our room (a swim-up casita) was very comfortable, fresh, and clean! The one “issue” we experienced throughout our week long trip was related to the bathroom towel situation. Multiple times we hardly had any washcloths/hand towels and there was one day we did not get any bath towels for the shower. However, we easily popped into the Casita lounge and asked for some towels then when we came back to our room they had left some for us. But this was not anything at all that took away from our trip - just a minor inconvenience that was easily rectified. The pools were very clean (we saw Arturo working hard in the Casitas) and free of debris as was the beach! There are so many individual workers all over El Dorado working to keep the grounds stunning and they deserve such a huge shoutout. They are always all so friendly - it is a gorgeous resort to walk around and many “hola!”s to be exchanged with every employee/guest you pass by. Our room was in section 30 where Eduardo was the pool bartender and he was awesome! Always so friendly and made the most delicious margaritas on the rocks. We had Ramon and Jose a few days as beach butlers in that section and they were rockstars. Both were so outgoing with very positive attitudes and made sure we had towels and plenty of mimosas to sip on the beach. Our room was also situated close to Gaviotas the beach bar in the Casitas which is the most perfect place to sit and enjoy some music and the beach. Bartender Juan May helped us with some Spanish lessons while we enjoyed drinks and the beach! Every morning we started with breakfast at Santa Fe with Alex, Yuli, and Dany (Dany is my Swiftie amiga)! Santa Fe was close to our Casita section so not too far of a walk from our room. The breakfast food was incredible - I am a big fan of the cheese and chorizo quesadilla made by Chef Johnny. The sweet cornbread was also a favorite. Every employee at Santa Fe is so friendly and always made sure to greet us and make sure we had everything we needed. I was never without water, coffee, and a mimosa haha all the breakfast beverages. The best start every day to our vacation in paradise! For lunch most days we visited Kampai since it was also close to Casita section 30 and has the same awesome crew as at Santa Fe breakfast! Chef Cielo made the best chicken pad Thai!! One day we ventured down to Kick and had delicious cheeseburgers on the beach with Daniel. Isac/Paty made us some delicious drinks at the Kick bar! Dinners did not disappoint either. We visited Fuentes twice on this trip and both times were so delicious - I especially enjoyed the Rock menu with Mac and cheese, Cesar salad, and brisket! The wine pairing was incredible both times- Someliers Fabiola and Edgar do such a great job of pairing the wines with Chef Eduardo’s dishes. Our waiters Norberto and Memo were on point as were all the wait staff! Majo is a queen leading the Fuentes crew and the entertainment provided by Pablo is so enjoyable - Rocket Man was a classic song to end the night. Also the welcome drinks prior to the show are always interesting and yummy - Missael the nighttime bartender did good. Highly recommend the Fuentes experience if you visit El Dorado - it is worth the extra charge. We dined at D’italia Casitas a couple times and recommend the chicken parmigiana!! Edmar provides such incredible service (along with Felix!) and the hostess, Daniela was very professional and efficient. We also dined at D’itala Villa one night with David as our waiter and I am still dreaming about the cheese raviolis and casata I had. Manager Juan is doing an awesome job of overseeing these restaurants (and at Generations, I believe) - he was so kind when we saw him and wanted to make sure our experiences at these restuarants were perfect. We also enjoyed dining at the Cabana pizzaria with Aby a few times! I think between me and my friend we tried most of the pizzas on the menu and they were all delicious! I really enjoyed dining at the Cabana since it is outside (also a perk - you don’t need a reservation to pop in and have a pizza). The nighttime entertainment was enjoyable! We thoroughly enjoyed the Cygnus band and would have loved to see them perform more than one night. The karaoke and circus/acrobat shows were also fun to watch. Fernando and Francisco do an awesome job of keeping the entertainment going. I do wish the shows started earlier in the night rather than past 9:30pm, but hey, you’re on vacation why not stay up a little later haha! Also the bar crew of Guacamayas was awesome - Justo and Janelli, Pedro, Josselin, Carlos. The bar was insanely busy but they were working hard to make sure we all had our preferred beverages. We are also thankful to night time cart driver Alfonso for giving us a lift from the Casita side to the Royale side more than once. If we didn’t spend our evenings at Guacamaya watching the entertainment, we were either at Martini Bar or Gaviotos. Raul was in training to be a bartender and was crushing it - his cosmopolitans were perfect! Edgar and Edison also made sure we were never thirsty. Props to Luis Loyo the concierge - he made sure every thing was up to par for us the entire week and always was happy to answer any questions we might have. He is one of the most positive individuals I’ve ever met who loves their job! In addition to the people I’ve previously mentioned, there are a handful of others who made our week long vacation so amazing. My best friend and I love to walk/exercise and the weather was perfect for it and there are so many bars on the El Dorado property for you to stop and get a water (or tequila!) from. Daytime bartenders Luis Pozos floater, Clemente in 25, Julio in 28, Reuben in 32, Julio Figuroa in Spot, Cesar in 27, Lazaro floater, Rodolfo floater, Eduardo floater, Adal and Gerry at Martini, Leybert and Ricky at La Isla - all made sure we were never thirsty on our walks. I cannot say enough good things about visiting the El Dorado Casitas. This was not my first trip and I was a little nervous how things might go due to the split with Karisma, but it was a near perfect trip. It is such a beautiful place and it is very obvious how hard the staff works to make sure you are happy and comfortable. I already have my next trip booked and it isn’t soon enough!

The hotel and facilities were amazing and we would definitely go back We booked a sea view casitas suite, which to be honest, I would not waste your money on the upgrade - they have no different view than the standard rooms and they are not much different other than detached The only issue we encountered were the pool management around the casita as taking cash from guests in the neighbouring hotel to use the pool and bar which we had paid extra for so we may as well have paid less and stayed in the el dorado Royale next door - we did complain to our concierge but it didn’t seem to make any difference The restaurants and bar were great with a huge selection and we ran out of says to visit them all Overall most staff could not do enough to make your stay memorable and we will deffo go back but maybe not pay for so many extras as not sure they were worth it

El Dorado Swim up Casitas are one of our favorite resorts for a pampered restful vacation. The Casitas are beautiful, clean and plenty of room. The beds and pillows are comfortable, the aromatherapy is refreshing and zenful. The 5 star cuisine is delicious and portions are filling. The service is always professional and friendly. Many restaurants to choose from. Our Personal Concierge Kevin and Butlers: Miriam, Benjamin and Jorge pamper us. They always make sure our vacation is without issues. We applaud them for their hard work and dedication. One of the many reasons we continue to vacation at the El Dorado Casita property . All restaurants and meals are 5 star worthy, however our favorite restaurant is the Italian Casita restaurant, our wine kitchen dinner was perfectly prepared by Chef - Emmanuel and Host - Ricardo + Miguel Casita 32 area is the best we love it - we would like to thank; Casita 32 outdoor restaurant - chef Vicki Casita 32 Best bartender EVER! - Facundo Housekeeping - Maria Lomas travel is professional and outstanding - Josias, Luis The Spa is worth it. The Hydrotherapy wellness facility and the services do not disappoint. We look forward to our next trip to the El Dorado Casitas - home away from home Barb and Gerry Calgary AB

the resort is beautiful. our room had a swim out pool and also faced the beach. linens, towels and room amenities were very good quality. elect. carts made getting around much easier and it is a large resort. restaurants were very good except for the mexican restaurant which was average. it is all inclusive, but be sure to ask if you rent a poolside cabana. one bottle of champange is included in the $100 upcharge. they asked if we wanted our second bottle, however it was not included. didnt find out until check out which comes across as non-transparent and shady.
