Only ate here for lunch, very good food. Very well maintained gardens and hotel, good example of replica traditional wooden houses in garden used as accommodation. Dance troupe performed traditional dancing. Located In heart of town so easy to walk to see sights and woodworking workshop plus Zebu horn workshop

Driving into Hotel Artisan, also known as L'Artisan Chez Victor, is like pulling into an oasis. The surrounding city is dingy and crowded (typical in Madagascar, where you don't go for the cities). Suddenly, you are going down a driveway with murals on the surrounding walls. At the end of the driveway are a cluster of small cabins, with intricate... More

We stopped here for lunch and it was great. It seems that all the tour drivers/guides take there guests here when driving through the area. The food was delicious. I had a veggie pizza and it was great. The hotel is very nice and artistic. During lunch they had a group of locals doing some Malagasy folk dances. It was... More

Nice place, clean, pleasant staff, and food was VERY tasty and safely prepared. This might be the only spot in town safe for a Western stomach. I ordered pork in tomato sauce and was very pleasantly surprised with how flavorful and tender it was. This was one of the few meals I legitimately really enjoyed in Madagascar.

Stayed here one night on our way back to Tana and absolutely loved it. Bungalows were very spacious with a queen-sized bed, clean medium-sized bathroom, and 'loft' area with a twin bed and access to a small deck outside. Loved all of the hand-crafted details. Food at the restaurant was delicious and all staff (front desk and wait staff) were... More

This was a little oasis in Ambositra and the staff were well trained to manage our special questions about what was in this dish or that. The pasta and pizza were good and the meat dishes were average. (There is only so much Zebu a person can take). We would definitely stay here, the hotel seemed quite nice.

Very artistic hotel in an artistic town, we like it very much, the pity is that we could only stay for one night. The hotel is new and beautiful, wood arts everywhere. And it is great value for the money, the room is only 60000Aviary for a 3-bed family room. Just walk out of the hotel and turn left, walking... More

Stopped for lunch at Hotel Artisan on the way to ranomafana National Park. Good food (I had the pizza, with generous toppings). The freshly squeezed Pineapple juice was excellent and cheap (50 cents a glass) Equally if not more important to travelers, the toilets were clean, clean, clean with TP, soap, and hand dryer - all in the middle of... In the courtyard of the hotel, we were lucky enough to experience extraordinary performances of Malagasy folk dances accompanied by wonderful live music. It would be worth contacting the hotel to ask when they are scheduled there again. This was the most incredible cultural experience we enjoyed in Madagascar. Ambositra made a good lunch stop traveling between Ranomafana and Anstirabe,... More

This hotel is placed in woodcraft village and it looks like an artwork. But inside it's not so good, just middle class. It's good for 1 night stay on your Madagascar journey, not more. The restaurant was good, food and drinks were also good and prices weren't very high, staff is very friendly. Also there were many poor people trying... More
