I say its pretty average overall... Tlou lodge accommodation is a bit outdated, and the game reserve has the big 5 but only a very small amount of each animal so very rare to have sightings. It is however a very nice getaway , very close to jhb, only a 2 hour drive and value for money.

Had I read the Trip Advisor reviews before doing a timeshare swop, we wouldn't have gone. Especially when I noticed that the management didn't even respond to the comments. (Sondela responds to all comments) I tried to get information ahead of time so we could cancel our trip if necessary. On the day I was offered the swop I couldn't... More

The second time we have stayed at Mabilingwe. Apart for a good 4 x 4 route game drives are disappointing. In spite of hours of driving we had limited animal sightings. The furniture in the chalet is very uncomfortable. Had a good sighting of hippos and a fish eagle at the dam.

The units are built so near to each other sadly it detracts from the nature aspect. All that is heard is the neighbours chattering not the night sounds, like a jackals call afar. Also found the units to be extremely small in comparison to other lodges nearby. The facilities like the resturant is lovely though, and offers beautiful romantic views... More

We were accommodated in a two bedroomed/2 bathroomed chalet with loft room for two more. The accommodation was perfectly clean and fully furnished and well equipped for self catering. There is a handy small shop on site. With friendly Warthogs, bushbuck, african wild cat and a rarely seen porcupine our evenings were relaxing and interesting at the bbq in the... More

Our family of six adults and two children aged 8 and 12 spent four nights at this property. Our first impression was "rustic" as the 6 sleeper units have thatched roofs and are NOT luxurious....I would say adequate for self catering. To our wonderment, warthogs visited us EVERY time we were on the patio, noses poking in our open doorway... More

We stayed here during Feb '14 and overall got exactly what we were looking for - time to relax, do nothing, read, swim, eat, drink wine and we even saw some animals. It was a mid-week visit, which I think made a massive difference! If you'd like to drive around 8 hours a day looking for the big 5 then... More

We spent a relaxing week at Mabalingwe in a sleep 6 unit in Phiri Camp. Our spacious unit was well equipped, although it would have benefited from a washing machine, and we quickly felt at home in our comfortable surroundings. During our week, we went on two organised game drives and many self-drive wanders through the reserve seeing a good... More

Having just returned from a great holiday at mabalingwe over the festive season, I thought it will be appropriate to put things in perspective after having seen some of the comments on tripadvisor. We stayed in a 6 sleeper in kwalata camp and the chalet was modern, spacious and very clean. Our unit was serviced every day and all bedding... More

We spent a glorious week at this resort in Chalet 15 at Ingwe Camp from 13th to 20th December. Checking in was a pleasure. The staff were very polite and made us feel welcome. As we were slightly early we had a quick light lunch at the ladies bar on the terrace with amazing views over the valley and the... More
