We have just returned from the Devonshire Arms after a two night stay for our family of 6 adults and 3 children. It was my husbands 70th birthday and we celebrated with an excellent meal on the second night. We stayed in the courtyard room which needed a sweep up outside which to be fair was arranged very quickly. The... More

We stayed overnight with friends, the manager kept me waiting to check in - clearly the computer was more important. His staff, by contrast, were helpful and welcoming. The rooms were small but adequate. There was no shower gel/shampoo on arrival and it was not replenished on request. We ate elsewhere but the food in the bar looked good. Breakfast... More

We stayed one night here. The room was a good size and clean. Good size bathroom. Our room had a nice little courtyard. The mattress and pillows were lumpy and extremely uncomfortable which marred what would otherwise have been a pleasant stay. Staff were a little off hand at first but turned out to be friendly and helpful. Wifi was... More

Didn't even get past the booking stage! My mum tried to book for a large party only to be told she had to book online, when she said she didn't have a computer the guy replied 'we'll that's the only way you can book' he was rude, unpleasant and clearly didn't want the business don't bother with this place there... We had a lovely last minute stay here and just turned up on the off chance that they had a room. Luckily they did. We were made to feel very welcome with our dog getting lots of attention too. Our room was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed. It was a little tired looking in comparison to the bar... More

We booked a table at this restaurant, my daughters favourite. There were 6 adults and a young child. We were shocked to find out we had been given a table near the main door - not our expectations to celebrate. I asked if we could have a table in the restaurant as I could see there were lots free. I... More

Meeting friends for tea and being the only customers in there, I mentioned that the toilets had black mould around the basin in the toilets and that the ladies did not match the fabulous decor of the rest of the building. The staff threw us all out for our comments. Don't worry we won't ever return.

This is a lovely hotel to stay in. It is run by a lovely bunch of people who are extremely helpful and happy. Our only downside for us was the minimal selection of vegetarian food. The waiter said they'd change stuff around to try and accomodate us, but we couldn't really see how you can do that with steak and... More

We stayed here and went to a wedding at a nearby Hotel. We ate a sandwich in 'Hatties' a coffee shop part of the Pub. This was as good as I have had anywhere, with quick friendly service. The accommodation room was on the ground floor. It is only an ordinary size bed, and very uncomfortable. The bedding was old... More

Impulsively stopped here as we were after a pub for a family Sunday lunch. It's located in a beautiful village - Baslow, and it's an ideal location to walk to Chatsworth House. Very warm and comfortable inside with friendly, helpful staff. Lovely Sunday lunch and an overall great experience - would definitely go back again.
