We were so looking forward to introducing our friends to the Devonshire Arms. We've been banging on for ages telling them how good it is. So our weekend in Derbyshire expertly planned with some staying at the Devonshire, some in Bakewell and others at Chatsworth Caravan park. Table booked for 7.30 pm. When we arrived we were told the booking... More

This was our second visit to the Devonshire Arms The rooms are clean and comfortable the food however laces alot to be desired. 11 of us booked a table we were told they had no rib eye steak and we were offered sirloin at no reduction in price 4 of our party ordered belly pork and between us we hadn't... Slow service today, the first served had finished before the thirteenth meal arrived. Food portions were meagre and I didn't order sides of veg as I didn't realise they were at extra cost. One person had a £22 steak that was mainly gristle and 6 square inches of belly pork is insufficient for a main course. The waitress tried hard... More

Can't fault this place. Went for a little bIrthday treat; it is very laid back but you do get the impression that the staff are getting on with it! It is very close to Chatsworth Park(one minute) through their back entrance. Food in the restaurant is very good and competitive hotel prices for the area. I can recommend this hotel... More

Had a wonderful stay in a beautiful part of the world. Lovely room and the staff were kind, welcoming and very helpful. In the evening we had a nice meal in the adjacent restaurant. Sunday morning walk around the beautiful Chatsworth Park. Would recommend.

Since we last stayed here the dining room has become a very pleasant circular restaurant and what was an empty spare room is now a smart tea room. Both dinners and breakfasts were up to a high standard and well received after the cold and rain of Chatsworth. The staff were all very friendly, particularly the young man who greeted... More

Our last minute booking meant that we got a very good price for our room, but, even better, on arrival, we were upgraded to a four poster bedroom. It was large and very comfortable, furnished in shabby chic style, and with three windows. The bathroom was a good size too. A nice touch was having loose leaf teas and an... More

Stayed here for one night between Christmas and New Year. Excellent base fir walking in the area around Chatsworth. The room was lovely, staff excellent and good get good. What more can you ask. Just one small complaint and it's a bit of a bugbear for me...... when I plugged the hairdryer in I couldn't reach a mirror.

Stayed here for two nights with friends. Lovely setting, rooms very nice and bar/restaurant had a nice atmosphere. Had a meal in the restaurant on the first night, and waited 1.5 hours for food, very slow. Not suitable for veggies, only one option on the mains, and nothing on the starters, very poor. It was a cassoulet, when it arrived,... More
