Our welcome for a special birthday night stay was friendly, pre-ordered flowers were in the room, albeit a straggly and expensive arrangement, and the room was lovely with a big king size bed and a tiny, tidy bathroom. The view over the fields towards Chatsworth was pastoral England at its best, with new born lambs gambolling alongside the heavy coated... More

we loved the weekend we stayed at the Cavendish. our room was luxurious and the dining experience excellent. the toiletries in the room were very nice and the tea and coffee very good. I liked having fresh milk in the fridge. in the evening we wandered down to the lounge where we had drinks and were given the menu. the... More

Let me get the positives out of the way first. We love the peak district and often feel a little out of place because of my anglo-Indian heritage but having said that the people in this part of the country can't do enough for you.We pass this hotel quite often and my wife has always had a passion for staying... A lovely country hotel in a great location for visiting Chatsworth - just 15 mins walk across the park. And yet nice to be able to stroll around pretty village of Baslow. Very warm, welcoming and great service. Food delicious. Stayed in a newly decorated bedroom where everything works, everything is incredibly comfortable and lovely views - hooray! All in... More

Stayed here for a friends wedding at Chatsworth - booked the risdale suite - loved the fact that it was like an apartment however - first impression count - the black scuff marks on the steps as soon as you walk through the door and the grubby carpet make your heart sink - although when you get in the room... We stayed two nights on a 'winter warmer' deal which is very good value. Had a very enjoyable stay and found the staff friendly and helpful, the food in the main restaurant very special and our room was newly decorated in a modern style.

We had a three night winter warmer holiday here in late March, meeting up with friends. We were all very impressed with the position of the hotel overlooking Chatsworth Park, the very helpful and friendly staff, and the comfort and high standard of the bedrooms. In fact our room was so beautifully furnished, warm and comfortable we rate it as... More

We had a "Sunday Experience" that was wonderful. The room had a lovely view and was superbly appointed.Dinner was fine dining, breakfast ample and varied with local produce. The only tiny flaw was the cream for the cream tea was whipped, admittedly with vanilla crumbs. It should be clotted, but I come from Cornwall where the excise men would call... More

We both recently discovered this hidden gem on the Chatsworth estate. It's just epitomises what you read about in terms of traditional English country hotels. We came for special family celebration. Beautifully decorated comfortable rooms with flowers and chocolates. Exceptional views and food to die for. Excellent package value especially if you go for the 2 night break with dinner... More

Been some years since last stayed. Some business colleagues from USA were visiting and we stayed overnight. The location is as always stunning and accommodation was excellent. The rooms had once recently been refurbished that week and particularly appreciated the high standard of ensuite with drench shower. Staff were very attentive and excellent breakfast. Colleagues loved the ambience and decor... More
