We have stayed at The Cavendish numerous times and decided following our most recent visit in September it was time for a review. This hotel is in a superb location on the Chatsworth Estate, just perfect for exploring the whole of Derbyshire. The hotel itself is warm and welcoming with a traditional country house feel. Our room was very pretty... More

Just spent 2 nights with some friends at the Cavendish Hotel - food was really fantastic, rooms very comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful. Can't speak highly enough of the hotel, it suited our get together so well as not only was the hotel so good but there is so much to do in the surrounding area. I

We stayed at the Cavendish following our wedding in July. What a lovely treat it was! We loved our room with beautiful views and our-princess and the pea- bed! The staff were very welcoming friendly and courteous. We had a superb dinner and the breakfasts were lovely. We loved the fact that we could walk from the hotel to Chatsworth... More

We arrived at the Cavendish hotel, our second visit to this lovely relaxing hotel with easy parking to the reception steps. When entering into the very nice traditional reception the receptionist recognise us from our previous visit and greeted us with a nice smile, and, a nice to see you again Mr and Mrs Palmer, our booking was already made out... Me and my partner decided to go peak district without booking hotel. Found cavendish and looked lovely from outside. Got room straight away even at 8pm rates we're good. Hotel itself is filled with history and we loved it. Was clean and well decorated had everything you needed. Only downfall was in the book it had room service dinner orders... More

Lovely setting overlooking Chatsworth Estate albeit you cannot see the house from the hotel you can walk across the fields from the car park directly to England's finest stately home. The whole atmosphere is old fashioned and charming in terms of decor and service. Bedrooms can be somewhat of a "route march" but are well equipped and comfortably furnished with... More

This is one of the nicest hotels that I have stayed at in recent years with good old fashioned service as one always got in an English hotel. The service was excellent and polite and I will visit again. Just a word of advice and guidance for the breakfast chef - if you have the haddock with poached eggs for... More

We stayed at the cavendish hotel from 7th to 8th September. Hotel really lovely and cream tea and champagne excellent. The problem we had was with the restaurant in the evening. Due to a mix up (the waitress blamed the chef and the chef blamed the waitress) we had to wait over an hour between our starter and main course.... More

The Cavendish was lovely . Room was large & had everything you could ask for , including comfy bathrobes. Staff were very pleasant & efficient We ate in the garden room & the food was ok , although the menu wasn't extensive. My only gripe really is the cost. I know this is right next to Chatsworth , but I... More

I have been using the Cavendish for almost 30 years, both for business and personal events. I have to say I had somewhat overlooked this lovely hotel for a while mainly due to being based in Leeds for a few years but also due to some fairly indifferent meals and service during the last couple of visits, over a year...
