Went to this restaurant intending to have dinner but ended up eating elsewhere. This is a soulless establishment whose staff seem more interested in their own inflated sense of importance that their customers. We arrived about 7.30pm and found the place quiet so went to the bar to have a drink and peruse the menu. There were two people behind... More

We arrived at 1300 , the hotel is in lovely surroundings , the staff are very polished , almost too much . We ate in the main restaurant , food was great but lacking in atmoshpere, we were the only people in there until half way through the meal Next time we will eat in the Garden room next time... More

Where else would one go for lunch or afternoon tea other than the Cavendish Hotel when visiting and shopping in Derbyshire. We were greeted at the front door by delightful receptionists and shown into the splended garden room to partake of a spot of lunch. Drinks ordered (has to be a flute of champagne to toast) menu choice lovely and... More

We often call in here for a pot of their excellent coffee. The atmosphere is relaxing, service excellent, non rushed in plush surroundings. Prices are reasonable. There was quite a cross section of people using the place, ramblers, business people and those just dropping in for a coffee.

We met friends here as we have done several times before. The hotel is great and the initial reception is always very good sadly it goes down hill after that. Every thing about this hotel is good with the exception of the service and the food in the Gallery Restaurant. I am sure that that the chef is inspirational in... More

Superb hotel that does everything well. Unfortunately not the cheapest place to stay, but if you love a spotlessly clean hotel, great antique furnishings, wonderful location coupled with staff who really know how to take care of you, then you have to pay. The food is excellent and served professional by people who care in a wonderful dining room. Go... More

The Hotel was well appointed and, the food in the Gallery was of the highest standard. It was all let down by average service, the Maitre'd was sullen and lacked a smile. The service was lacking sparkle and was just going through the motions. This could be down to compulsory 5% service charge?. In a establishment of this calibre, having... More

This lovely hotel on Chatsworth Estate is warm and welcoming, but the highlight has to be the food. The Garden Restaurant serves what may be the best burger in the world, but it's the Gallery Restaurant that really dishes up something special. Every dish is an adventure in the best possible sense of the word. My taste buds will be... More

. . . . . to arrive in Baslow to an attractive and professionally run hotel after a dismal time in Leeds. In desperation we had baled out early from 42 The Calls and decided to run for the tranquillity of the countryside around Chatsworth. We asked various friends for recommendations and The Cavendish seemed to be the one to... More
