This is bar far our favourite place to stay in the Peak District. The staff are amazingly attentive and no requests have ever been too much. We ate in the Gallery Restaurant which is by far the best local food around, and the Chatsworth marmalade at breakfast and freshly baked croissants are to die far. In my opinion the best... More

As a birthday treat on the 24th July we decided to choose the Cavendish. We were warmly welcomed by the delightfull receptionist and shown onto the new terrace with its amazing views looking over the Chatsworth estate. A lovely waitress wrote out our order for full afternoon tea and an extra portion of scones (the best ever) with a flute... More

We stayed here on a special deal, still quite pricey for the standard of room/food etc and no help when we arrived in explaining what exactly was included. Dinner both nights, in the Garden room and main restaurant was not good. Puff pastry tart was a small, flat sheet of cold pastry and certainly no 'puff', a steak was overcooked... More

Hubby and I walked around the park at Chatsworth house and decided to walk into baslow for a well deserved glass of something cold.Happened upon the cavendish hotel on the way we sat on the terrace we only had a sandwich each and a glass of wine. The sandwiches were a little pricey but delicious as were the side of... More

This was a spur of the moment lunch choice for my partner's birthday. Despite the sign promising superlative food and genial staff, both were disappointing. Service was slow, even there were only two other couples in the restaurant. We waited close to 40 minutes for a very simple order - at one stage we couldn't even locate any wait staff... More

we found the venue to be fabulous, the staff really good, however the managers are not in the least flexible. particularly when it came to helping with special occasions and working around times for eating and a rather restrictive menu! my husband had glorified fish and chips every evening that we ate in the hotel..... we went to the local... We booked the romantic two night stay in a superior room for a wedding anniversary celebration and were certainly not disappointed. Staff were very helpful, friendly and welcoming. The evening meals, particularly in the main restaurant, were excellent and the room was spacious, very comfortable and had delightful views across the surrounding countryside. Our only complaint was the cold toast... More

I should say that I booked this hotel based on the fact that the description said it faced Chatsworth properties. It did, but we could not see Chatsworth House itself I suppose because our room was on the ground floor. It was also the farthest location from the front desk in an L shaped layout. Service was top drawer from... More

3 of us called in mid-morning for a cuppa. Couldn't resist the cream tea offering. When it came, the scones were scrumptious! With homemade strawberry jam that was to die for and clotted cream, we revelled outside on the patio with glorious sunshine and beautiful views. The staff were all extremely pleasant and welcoming.
