My husband and I have just enjoyed another fabulous stay at the Cavendish. We stayed Saturday and Sunday night, eating in The Gallery restaurant the first night and the Garden room on the second. The food was excellent in both as our tightening waistbands will lay testament to. The staff as always were friendly and efficient and helped to make... More

Have stayed here a number of times over the years, and the Cavendish has always succeeded in turning our stays, smoothly, into special occasions. On this visit, it's evident that things have changed - apart from the competent reception on arrival, the staff are disorganised, lack polish, evidence of experience and leadership. Particularly in the bar and the dining room,... More

I had booked for Afternoon Tea for 4 as a ladies day out for two of my friends birthdays. We arrived and were asked to wait. A waitress came almost immediately and confirmed our booking, asking to us to follow her to the dining Room. We were disappointed as it was almost empty , just one table finishing their meal,... Stopped over in a £89 ro special off booking.com , plus 5% 'service charge' and breakfasts .Upgraded on arrival as many rooms 'offline' for refurbishment . Dined at the lovely Italian restaurant opposite the hotel ' il lupo '- excellent service and food ! Room 21 very nice , slightly let down by a couple of things - mattress way... More

[this is just for the garden room restaurant.] lunch today - Pork Burger with chips, my better half had a Fishcake. To be honest, both of these were really excellent and filling too. Pork burger, with pieces of black pudding in the centre, and drizzled in melted cheese, plus double cooked chips, and a fabulous tomato relish proved irresistable. Just... More

Stayed for two nights after Xmas on a dinner bed and breakfast package. Our room was comfortably furnished with great views across to the Chatsworth estate. The bathroom was newly refurbished and with underfloor heating. Comfortable bed and armchairs. Superb curtains. Good range of teas and coffees in the room. Plumbing in the room above was potentially noisy but we... More

We've just returned home from a fabulous 6 night stay at the Cavendish Hotel. Although not inexpensive we feel that the whole stay was well worth the money. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the food throughout the stay was of 'Masterchef'/Michelin style standard. I dread to think how much weight we have gained ! All the staff... More

We arrived at 1300 , the hotel is in lovely surroundings , the staff are very polished , almost too much . We ate in the main restaurant , food was great but lacking in atmoshpere, we were the only people in there until half way through the meal Next time we will eat in the Garden room next time... More

Where else would one go for lunch or afternoon tea other than the Cavendish Hotel when visiting and shopping in Derbyshire. We were greeted at the front door by delightful receptionists and shown into the splended garden room to partake of a spot of lunch. Drinks ordered (has to be a flute of champagne to toast) menu choice lovely and... More

We often call in here for a pot of their excellent coffee. The atmosphere is relaxing, service excellent, non rushed in plush surroundings. Prices are reasonable. There was quite a cross section of people using the place, ramblers, business people and those just dropping in for a coffee.
