Stayed here 27 June primarily because it was in walking distance of chatsworth house where we were attending an event. It takes 20 minutes to walk each way. The hotel was full of old country splendour with a few modern touches The room wax very comfortable with a great ensuite We had views of the countryside towards chatsworth house from... More

We had a nice stay in Baslow, but we thought the hotel and restaurant were very expensive for the location and for what you got to eat. The bedroom was nice and tidy. If you like a nice walk, you can easily walk from the hotel to Chatsworth House. Wifi very poor and intermittent

My first visit and I was looking forward to being spoilt. As I have been driving past this establishment for years and finally could say I had been. I was soon to be brought down to earth with a bump. We visited as husband and wife with my parents. We were celebrating my Mums 70th birthday. I booked the afternoon... More

Stayed here for one night in a spacious but very warm room with no air-con (which at the prices charged you would expect). Contrary to a previous reviewer, there ARE rooms with a road view, as ours did and the road noise is quite noticeable, especially when you have to open a window. On succeeding to open a sash window,... More

Stayed overnight having spent a day as a tourist locally. We were lucky having a beautiful weather day. The stay was pleasant so a nice drink on the terrace overlooking the rolling hills, a beautiful view. So It 's a pity the establishment offers nothing special, as the location and clientele seem to indicate that special is what is expected.... More

My friend and I decided to have a late lunch in the Garden Room as they serve food all day, the weather was so nice we decided to sit outside on the terrace. Service was professional yet relaxed and friendly, the food was heavenly! We will definitely return!

About 18 months ago, the week before it was snowy and difficult to travel. But inside the luxury hotel they kept us lovely and warm, The dining room had a roaring log fire going and as a couple we were seated at a two person table near a window so we could see the setting sun on the lovely hills... Booked a single night, just so that we could spend more time visiting Chatsworth than a quick day trip. What a decision. Bad weather on the Friday changed our plans and we dodged showers by exploring Baslow (so often passed through but never stopped) and relaxing in the hotel, and was IT relaxing. This is probably the most laid back... More

Having driven past 1000s of times, eventually stayed here. Acceptable wifi for browsing/email, not streaming. Large, recently refurbished, pleasant rooms. No A/C but not required. Great views over towards Chatsworth. In room coffee etc and fridge. Good bathroom with high power shower. Great breakfast with usual variety of buffet contents and cooked to order normal breakfast contents. Overall, lovely place... More

The Cavendish really does embody all the charm and elegance of hospitality of days gone by while catering for the modern and discerning traveller. My shoulders instantly drop whenever I cross the welcoming threshold of The Cavendish's main entrance. The receptionists, especially Moira, are so warm and welcoming. The open fire and furnishings of the lobby give a clue as... More
