We called in the Cavendish for an afternoon tea in December after a long walk in The Chatsworth Gardens and we were delighted to sit outside on their lovely terrace soaking up some rare December warmth and bright sunshine. The service was friendly and efficient and the prosecco and scones with black current jam delicious.

We stayed for my wife's birthday on the weekend 23rd and 24th January 2016. the experience up to the Mondays breakfast was faultless. However they had contractors in on the Monday morning and breakfast was at best a shambles. Food below par (for obvious reasons) and strained staff serving. We felt that they should of waited till lunch when all... More

We had a great stay in this beautiful hotel. The staff were excellent without exception and nothing was too much. The room was spotless with a great view. They made a special weekend ( got engaged! ) all the more special.

I discovered by a chance conversation with friends that the Cavendish lounge and kitchens would be out of action for four days this week. A planned coffee morning with friends had to be cancelled. I would have thought the temporary closure would have been mentioned on the hotel's website. The receptionist said she would alert the manager about the omission,... More

My fiancé booked us 2 nights at the Cavendish Hotel for my Christmas present. We stayed in an "inn" room (room 21 specifically) To clarify for anyone these are not suites. But are lovely rooms. We had a stunning 4 poster bed with large old furniture to match and woke up to amazing views out onto fields of sheep. The... More

There is no doubting the beauty of this hotel and the surrounding views, quintessentially British Countryside hotel which as you would expect is decorated to a high standard throughout. Rooms are spacious and well equipped in keeping with the style of hotel, i.e. no over sized flat screen TV which is the way it should be. The staff were friendly... More

We has a suite (room 9?) which was lovely overlooking the fields with views of the House. We were part of a larger group and I have to commend the service and level of detail provided. Breakfast is pricey, but quality and service made it actually good value. All the staff were really helpful, but special mention to Penny on... More
