The hotel is wonderful, beautifully decorated and with lovely rooms with oil paintings and watercolours. It is the ideal place to spend a relaxing break in the Peak District. The hotel staff is so hospitable and efficient. Both restaurants are excellent. The room was spacious and with a lovely view facing the hills. In less than 30 minutes walk, across... More

My son and I stayed at the Cavendish 18/08 - 19/08. The hotel is exquisite; from the pristine grounds and classic hotel decor, to the tea service provided at breakfast and exceptional evening menu; beef fillet, scallops, pork. The champagne picnics are a lovely idea if you're going out for the day and would actually easily feed four adults. The... More

Arrived for a romantic meal for two, shown to a lovely table in the conservatory that over looked the stunning Derbyshire Dales. Waiting staff so well trained, polite and couldn't do enough for us to make our evening special. Food delicious; my partner had pork chops, very moist and I had rib eye steak which was cooked to perfection with... More

I've always wanted to spend a couple of days exploring the Chatsworth Estate, and this lovely hotel is the perfect base. The hotel is very peaceful, all bedrooms overlook the countryside, the rooms have large sash windows, and it was lovely to drink tea in bed in the morning looking out at the view. Tea all the better for having... More

We have just spent a few days at the Cavendish Hotel and highly recommend it. The hotel common areas are all very well decorated, fresh, comfortable and inviting. Our room (Nancy) was beautifully decorated, luxurious and very clean with delightful views over the country side. It was such a pleasure to wake to the sound of the cattle in the... More

No personal toiletries, not even a picture on the wall. The heated towel rail was fitted very low on the wall behind the bath so,you could not lie back without banging your head on it. Food only average at best and over priced. A very tough pork chop. Wine list very over priced. £168 for one night with no breakfast is... More

We arrived for a one night stay with friends to celebrate. The rooms,we had booked superior, were pleasant enough with lovely views. The corridors needed some tlc a lick of paint needed. The bar lounge is ok and the waiters were very helpful. The dining room was smart and the menu had limited choice and I would describe the food... More

We made a family visit for afternoon tea. They were very accommodating for our young children who were offered cheese or jam sandwiches in place of the more adult flavours. The cakes and scones were good and the qualities were spot on. A very pleasant afternoon out.
