I recently traveled to Los Mimbrales with my wife-to-be for a quiet week-or-so in the sunshine and came away slightly disappointed. Whilst the grounds and staff are charming there is a spartan quality about the hotel which is unexpected at 140 Euro per night. It almost seems as if the hotel is a bizarre combination of boutique character and roadside... more

I researched this trip thoroughly and placed quite alot of importance on it (it is our last holiday before we become parents in December). Mimbrales was recommended by Guy Hunter-Watts in his book about small hotels in Andulucia. We booked for 8 nights but stayed only 5, which says alot. The really bad stuff first...... The room was dark, small... more

If you want to visit the Donâna Natue Reserve and El Rocio village the Casa de Mimbrales is surely the most interesting place to stay. The Cortillo, very close to amazing El Rocio sand town is an authentic rural one-street village formerly inhabited by the workers of this huge and still active orange grove. Some 10 years ago the village... more

Four star finca with restaurant and bar, stables, and extensive citrus groves. Location - handy, but it is off a main road. However, not really noisy despite that. Convenient for the unusual town of El Rocio, the marshlands and birds, and the Donana NP. Style - a sprawling, spacious site done in aesthetically appealing rustic style with little courtyards and... more

We recently stayed 3 nights at this pretty and peaceful place, with its rustic spacious rooms decked out in traditional Andalucian farmhouse style, surrounded by orange and lemon trees. Also there is a very pretty swimming pool, cold but very welcome in the Spanish heat. However, I only discovered the pool as I had seen pictures of it on the... more

We stayed 12 days in this "hotel" in August 2005. We love Spain and wanted something else than a hotel on the coast. What a relieve it was !! The personnel was very friendly; we had a room for 2 persons; well equipped and typical Spanish. Everything was decorated with eye for detail. Very good buffet breakfast. A nice Moorish... more

October 2005; Stayed two nights in a villa (more like a cottage). This had two bedrooms, 2 baths, sitting room, basic kitchen/dining room. Accomodation was perfect for our family of 5. Nice setting in landscaped gardens. Hotel will lend bikes and it is fun riding through the orange groves. There's a pretty moorish pool which was still open though pretty... more
