Went to the brown pub twice during our stay. Meals were slow to arrive which is difficult when you have tired children.... However they were very nice and well priced. Staff were accommodating and pleasant.

Just had an awesome experience staying at The Brown Pub!! The rooms, food, staff and atmosphere were well above what I was expecting as staying on a special deal of $59 a night including a great continental breakfast and a burger meal at night. With the fires roaring, a friendly crowd at the bar and amazing staff a great stay... More

Rooms are shabby, shared bathrooms are grubby and communal lounge room smelt like vomit and had a drunk person passed out in it. Rooms are above the pub and although Internet says they close at 12am that is when they started cranking up the music even louder. People outside in the street also made noise until around 3.30am and people... More

We are very disappointed to hear of your experience while staying with us. We can assure you that our rooms and bathrooms are cleaned daily and our cleaners take a great deal of pride in their work. In saying that we may not necessarily be aware if an area has been soiled unless a guest takes it upon themselves to... More

Recently traveled to Methven just to watch the speed shearing contest at the Brown Pub. The pub is your normal everyday New Zealand pub, except for the fact their was a huge platform in the middle of the pub for the shearing to take place which is good. The alcohol is cheap and the crowd was good. The Brown Pub... More

On holiday from Australia we decided to try the brown pub for a couple of drinks. Lovely place to sit in front of the fire. Friendly bar man. Ended up here a few times. Didn't eat here but meals looked nice coming out. All round just a nice place to relax.

We stayed here in Aug 2013 for a weekend ski trip. Great value, nice clean warm room with comfortable bed. Would stay again but not really for families as it can be a bit noisy during the night from all the party people coming back to their rooms at all hours. Food was great and good price.

Thanks for the comments. We are certainly aware that it can be noisy when it's a fun night downstairs in the bar and people are returning to their rooms later. We are always happy to offer our quieter rooms to families if availability allows so please let us know when booking and we will do what we can to help. More

Ate dinner here with 12 others on a hens night, they were very accommodating. Good food arrived in good time. Cheap meals, would have paid more. Even the though we were loud, they allowed us to have a good time. Only down side was the 3warm bottles of wine they brought out to us.

I stayed here while heading back through Methven on my own and wanted somewhere cheap and cheerful. Staying here or the blue pub were my options. I stayed on a special that included a meal and it was a good choice. It is still in the style of the old pub rooms so people moving about in the hallway was... More
