The hotel us in an excellent central position in the town and the host was very welcoming. The hotel is in very bad need of a good scrub and renovation. It is extremely old fashioned (and not in a good way!) Our room had no ventilation except the window which opened into the smoking balcony and as it was a... More

We came across this hotel after walking away from our booked accommodation in Lake Tekapo because it was dire. The weather was also atrocious and there was no chance of visiting the Mount John observatory as planned so we checked our guidebook and decided to head in the direction of Geraldine. After driving past fully booked motels we popped into... More

We stopped off on our way to Queenstown and to be honest we weren't expecting much. We were pleasantly surprised when the woman behind the bar told us that gluten free options were available. We have gluten free battered fish and Gluten free lamb shanks. Both meals were excellent. The veg were perfectly cooked and the service was good. We... More

Fantastic value. Forget motels thus us the place to stay in Geraldine. Very reasonably priced rooms that are clean and comfortable . Tea a coffee making facilities are available in the room. The dining room serves fabulous kiwi meals at such a reasonable price . The staff are super friendly. There is no WiFi but if you really must connect... More

We hadn't booked ahead so chose this hotel as it was right in the centre of town. The room had two single beds and a reasonable sized bathroom. Most importantly for us, it was really warm! Double glazed windows meant it retained the heat through the night. We didn't eat at the restaurant, so can't comment on the food or... More

Stayed here for just the one night with my 2 daughters. Very clean, quiet and secure. We had a hearty dinner in the downstairs restaurant, room and meals all at a very reasonable price. Good service for a busy Saturday night. Excellent atmosphere in the resto. Only thing to fault was lack of wifi, or more correctly, staff could not... More

We have tried time and again to eat at this hotel as it's handy walking distance from the campground. But there is an elderly lady behind the bar who doubles as the waitress that is consistently terrible. She can't remember orders, repeatedly gets them wrong and on our latest visit argued with us when we told her all the drinks... More

We stumbled across this hotel while walking to find somewhere for dinner. A classic old hotel but a very warm welcome and lovely food at very reasonable prices. Can recommend the lambs fry and bacon was very yum.

Our sports team found the Heritage Hotel to be good value for money. The refurbished rooms were of good size with an ensuite and comfortable beds. The men had good hearty breakfasts before their full day of South Island Woodchopping Championships. We had our team dinner in the dining room which is in keeping with the style of the hotel.... The Heritage restaurant is certainly looking a bit dated and tired. However they pitch themselves in the middle of the market and do honest large portioned pub grub which was very good on the day we went (New Years Day). If you just want a good feed at a reasonable cost and don't expect fine dining then Heritage is OK.... More
