Even though this motel is located by the side of the main road it was very quiet and comfortable.Everything was clean and we had a warm friendly welcome from Brenda. Its location is very good, only a short level walk into town and the various takeaways, restaurants and supermarket. We enjoyed our stay and thought the motel was reasonably priced.

My wife and I stayed here for a one-night stopover on route to Christchurch from Queenstown. It is located by the side of the main road into Fairlie, some 800 metres from the town centre, where there is a supermarket and plenty of take-away food outlets. We had a good welcome from the hosts and the room has everything that... More

If you want a comfortable, warm motel after a long drive that offers good value for money, this is the place for you. Tekapo may have lovely views but is overpriced when it comes to accommodation and this motel was very reasonable. Friendly and informative welcome from Brenda, and all questions are answered in the motel compendium. An easy walk... More

I have never seen a rule book of Do’s and Dont’s as long as the one which was kept here. Also, it has special instructions for Asian guests :-) with a mention that this is borne out of bad experience of the motel owner. Its far away from Lake Tekapo, and is good only for a overnight sleep. Nothing wrong... More

Privately owned Motels in NZ are more similar to a NZ home (with opening windows) than a multi-storey Hotel (without). Clearly you should have paid 2-3 times the tariff to stay in Tekapo on the night, as travelling 43kms an hour (in a 100km zone) is not safe for anyone. The journey takes 25-30 mins. The un-lit rural roads assist... More

We stopped here on our way from Tekapo. Fairlie is a quaint town but has good amenities including a four square if you need to stock up on any supplies. We stayed in a studio unit and at $110.00 this was exceptional value. The unit was very clean and spacious and bathroom was also a good size. Good laundry facilities... More

A friendly welcome in a small village half an hours drive from Tekapo is a good start. Manager Brenda quickly had our needs sorted with helpful local advice. The large studio unit was spotlessly clean, effectively furnished, had a large walk-in shower and a very clear explicit room compendium on what was expected from both host and client. A selection... Wow, this was a superb stay in a super clean motel with super friendly owners. Brenda welcomed us with a big smile, recommended some activities we could do in town before showing us our room. We had a big sized 2 bedroom apartment with all facilities we needed. We would always come back and can only recommend it.

Even if for just one night, we really enjoyed staying at Pinewood Motel. The room is really nice: spacious and extremely clean. It looks more like a mini-flat than a motel room! Big bathroom w body cleaner and shampoo provided, very comfy bed, big screen tv w Sky channels, perfect Internet connection, table and chairs and las t but not... More
