We stayed 2 nights in this motel, located just off main road between Christchurch & Queenstown. I guess it 'does what it says on the tin' - it is indeed clean, dry & warm - not always a given in NZ. I'm afraid there really isn't a lot else to get excited about. The decor is minimal & very dated.... More

The hotel is nothing special, very basic but good value for money. I would recommend heaters in every room as NZ can be cold . The underfloor heating is not doing the job straight away so having it on before the customers come will be good. Free wireless internet is a bonus.

Small motel but good place to stay between Christchurch and Tekapo. 10$ charge for breakfast which was more than adequate. Free Wifi which is always a bonus.

We stayed here towards the end of our trip as it was striking distance from Christchurch on our last day. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating and the motel is very clean and well kept. It’s an older motel but has been well maintained and updated with flat screen tvs and free wifi. Our unit was spacious and well... More

We stayed in Fairlie for one night at Aorangi Motel. Had read about it on trip adviser and the motel didn't disappoint. Lovely host, excellent spacious room in a quiet location complete with beautiful roses at your front door. Close to the main street of town, recommend the Gladstone Hotel for a good lamb roast. All in all the motel... More

We stayed at Aorangi Motel on the way to Central Otago from Marlborough and were very pleased we did. The motels were the best we stayed at on this break and would thoroughly recommend them. Although they are not modern, they are quiet, clean, comfortable and spacious with very pleasant and helpful owners. We would certainly use them again. Abby

We stayed here in the family unit for the first night out of Christchurch on our way south. We were pleased to find a clean, well equpped unit and slept well in the comfortable beds with minimum traffic noise. This is an ideal place to break a trip out of Christchurch. Fairlie is a pretty place to walk around.

I selected this motel based on its location between Queenstown and Christchurch as I wanted to stay in a smaller town on the weekend in order to go to a couple of markets in the area. The motel and its room were of good quality and certainly good value. The manager was both pleasant and efficient. The town itself was... More

Had a night here as we made our way round the south island. The motel stands well back from the road and is very quiet for a good nights sleep. Accomodation was clean and tidy and didn't present any problems at all. Quite a big unit compared to some similar motels in NZ - this one had a separate double... More

Fairlie is a small town on the last part of the drive to Lake Tekapo from Christchurch via Geraldine. This motel is a great find - ideally situated on a quiet service road adjacent to the main route, and 100 metres from one of the best restaurants, Eat, in that part of New Zealand. Try the breakfasts! There is well-stocked... More
