Casa de Palos has always been one of my favorite places to stay while visiting Tarapoto (tara) for business or leisure. Now it includes 'Tostaduria Quilpa' a coffee bar with a nice variety of different coffees from the rainforest area , roasted and grinded right after selecting it to have a wonderful brew, if you want assessed by their 'barista'

The hotel surrounds a small garden which contains tropical plants and a cage of saddle-back tamarins, which are allowed out to skitter through the trees in the mid-morning. The rooms are very nice, though the ground-floor rooms are a little dark, being shaded by the trees and the upper floors. Traffic noise is always present but not obtrusive, and drunken... More

If you are planning on visiting the San Martin Region this hotel can work as starting point or if Tarapoto is your main destination this is your best choice considering value, location, quality and service. I stayed here for 3 nights. All the staff was always smiling and being helpful. Owne/ operator Ms. Erika is an excellent choice. She made... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and it was a very good choice. The place is very nice with a beautiful rain-forest-like garden, with a toucan and monkeys. Helpful owner, good breakfast and nice, comfortable rooms. But all this is not cheap at all (especially considering the low prices Tarapoto has in general - much lower than Cusco region)

I was lucky to find 'Hostal Casa de Palos' while staying at a neutral brand-new hotel where my company had booked me. I moved immediately and felt is was the best decision. It has less than twenty rooms, each carefully taken care of, each guest is really helped with any need. But the most important thing and the one making... More

Ok, I will start by saying we stayed one night, and less than 10 hours at the hotel, but I did not like the town or the hotel. It is a small boutique hotel that was my least favorite rest stop of our entire 23 days in Peru. Tarapoto is a noisy, crowded town full of loud zooming motorcycles and... More

The staff is great and helpful, especially the receptionist Lina(?) and Carlos the driver. The rooms are small but doable, no hair dryer or shampoo, or sufficient soap for four nights, no air-conditioning, had a fan but it sounded like a train rumbling down a track. (never told that if you wanted air-conditioning, it would cost $20 more per night),... More

The first years this hotel opened the view from the upper terrace was fantastic, but now unfortunately the local IRS or 'Sunat' built a horrible mammoth construction in front of it blocking the view, though I still recommend this place being one of the few that makes the architecture take as where we are instead of trying to be 'urban'.... Stayed here for just one night, but was able to enjoy the place. Very friendly service, nice rooms, cozy environment, delicious breakfast. Plus, the neighboring Chalet Venezia restaurant is pretty good! The only con is that it seems that they don't have any type of beverages to offer during the day (not even water!). In summary, an unexpected cozy boutique... More
