Location, location, location. The Astarea is a hotel built during the Tito Communist era. Put it in perspective...rooms are small, but equally small. all rooms are the same. There are main hotel rooms and "Bungalow" units on the water's edge. All are in a protected bay in the delightful enclove of Mlini. The local neighborhood includes a beautiful forested park,... more

I visited Hotel Astarea May 14th for a week with my husband and two friends. Our rooms were very small but had a lovely view and sunny balcony. They were kept clean and the towels were changed daily but did get very hot as the air conditioning didn't seem very efficient. I didn't use the pool as it was indoors... more

The Astarea is set in a lovely location. There are shops around and nice restaurants - i would suggest one called 'Laterna' they are friendly and good with children as i have three ( a baby, and two toddlers) and were very good with them. A supermarket is about a 10 minute walk away. The beach really is lovely! Its... more

Great hotel. Staff friendly, good location - although at bottom of a steep hill so not great if walking is a problem and you want to go and catch a bus; good facilities (although they're not big on telling you what facilities they have), beuatiful area and views. Easy to get into Dubrovnik. If you go for half board option... more

Hotel is in a lovely location with beautiful sea views.Food & service were very good but don't get caught "smuggling" fruit from the restaurant (although the locals have this down to a fine art ! ) Main criticism was the price charged for use of the sauna----charges are displayed so we discovered but in small print & not obvious places.... more

We had a fabulous holiday staying at the Astaria Hotel in Mlini. The walk down to the beach is very picturesque and we were very lucky to have fine weather in October. The coastline is stunning with beautiful greenery right down to the beach area and the architecture is something to marvel at. It is a struggle to walk uphill... more

The previous 2 reviews are spot on, though should point out something that could upset some people. The Piano Bar is located next to reception in the main hotel block and most nights runs some form of loud music until at least 11:00 pm. This resonates through at least the first and second floors, so if you think you are... more

Located in a very quiet place at 5-10 minutes from Dubrovnik, in a place calle Mlini. There is a bus stop in front of the Hotel, but you have to climb a 100m slope to get there. Be careful if you use GPS to get there. In Dubrovnik there is another street with the same name, so check were the... more

We stayed at the Hotel Astarea for 10 days in July 2008 after booking 2 months ahead by Travel agent and had a great time. We were a little concerned by the reviews as some were good but some were very bad. We were in the main building and every room there has air-conditioning although they are old units and... more

My boyfriend and I have been going to the Astarea every year since 2003. If you want a relaxing vacation at a reasonable price, this place is for you. The staff is friendly and are eager to provide great service. They will even point you in the right direction if you want to book a tour or rent a car.... more
