We spent 3 days at this hotel and unfortunately had some bad experiences during our stay, which made us sure not visit this hotel anymore. Quality of accommodation and food is fine. Nothing special, but standard for this rate. Also location is very good. We wanted to visit fitness center, which they offer - we are always choosing only hotel... More

We stayed in the Matschner - a lovely base from which to explore the Dachstein area. The walks that Inntravel provided were all good. Everything is very clear, well marked and interesting. My husband thought a guide to their difficulty on an individual basis would be good. Although I was happy with simply distance and a description. We particularly enjoyed... More

First a warning: however much you walk or mountain bike, you will probably go home heavier than when you started. The generous buffet breakfasts, including omelettes freshly made to order by a charming lady, afternoon cakes and four course dinner are just too good to ignore! Some have suggested the dining room is a bit gloomy - well it doesn't... More

We stayed for 4 nights on half board whilst hiking in the area. All staff we encountered were super helpful and a big thank you to Stephanie, nothing was too much trouble. Introducing themselves at reception was a lovely touch. The breakfast buffet was excellent and included juiced carrots and other fruits. Dinner was also very good quality, soups were... More

Spent a week for a walking holiday. Situated in extremely pretty village with many walks nearby. The bedroom was comfortable and clean and the owners and staff very pleasant. However the dining room was like a conference hall and pretty dark and dreary. The week we were there only about 8 tables were being used each day and the menu... More

Dear Grinda, thank you very much for your feedback and for your comments! I'm really sorry that you have catched this quiet week! But anyway it shouldn't happen, that you feel uncomfortable due to the atmosphere in our dining hall. We will definitely discuss this topic at our next staff meeting. I'm sure that we can make it better in... More

This is a comfortable hotel, well run by its owners and friendly staff. The plentiful food was delicious with a wide choice to cater for all tastes. An unexpected bonus was the range of food on offer for afternoon tea: it was certainly more than tea and cake, more like a late lunch! Our room looked out over the mountains... More

We visited this hotel for cross country skiing last year and on the strength of that stay we decided to visit again this year. Many things are indeed excellent, for instance the food, standard of cleanliness and the friendly and accommodating service. This year they have improved the gym and this is free to hotel guests. There are snow shoe... More

Our second visit to Austria in february and first time in Ramsau. Due to our passion in cross - country skiing, we chose Ramsau as our destination. Hotel Matschner is excellently located with the world cup cross-country skiing stadium only 100 m from the hotel. With the 130 km trails for classic skiing and 70 km groomed trails for ski skating... Just back from a week staying at the Hotel Matschner on a walking holiday organised by Inntravel. There was far more walking, scrambling or more than you could do in a week, even using public transport at the end of September/beginning of October when the summer season is almost over. However the hotel organises 5 guided walks a week so... More
