We stayed for a week on a walking holiday and had a north facing room at the front of the hotel. Decent size and plenty of wardrobe space. Staff were lovely, particularly Sylvia at Reception, booking our trip to the Dachstein glacier and re- booking when the weather changed. Food was plentiful and suitable for vegetarian as well as meat-eaters.... More

We stayed at the Matschner over the half term holiday, and all three generations of the family loved it. The hotel provided excellent food for breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner. The children took full advantage of the kids club and children's swimming pool, and the adults camped out in the sauna and adults pool. The hotel is well connected to... More

My wife and I have just come back from this excellent family hotel. A very efficient and properly run hotel with well trained, friendly and obliging staff. The food was of a very high standard and the free afternoon tea and cake was wonderful being available from 2.30 until 5.00. It was a lot more than tea and cake! The... More

We have just returned from a week cross country skiing and staying in this excellent hotel. The hotel is right in the middle of the village and you can ski from the door. The rooms have balconies and everything is very clean. Attention to detail is very good. The hotel is owned by the very friendly family Knaus, for whom... More

This hotel (booked through Inn Travel) is perfect for a week's winter walking holiday. Seek a front (mountain view) room which, although probably has a shower rather than a bath, more than makes up for this with the view. Be prepared for some traffic noise (especially of the snow-plough after a snow fall), but overall quiet at night - Ramsau... More

We have just stayed several nights in this really good hotel. It's in the small centre of Ramsau next to bus stops for the very good local service to all the local attractions. It's a family run business and all the staff there are very friendly and helpful be it in the restaurant with advice on local places to go.... More

This is a great family run hotel with excellent facilities in a small village, within easy reach of great skiing resorts in the winter and superb walking in the remainder of the year plus an abundance of other activities in the area. The attention to detail by the family is of a very high standard and retention of staff shows... More

The hotel has 4 stars - one at least belongs to Silvia. She was very kind, speaks very good English and very helpful in anything we needed to make a perfect hiking vacation. The hotel has different kinds of rooms. The standard is very small. Breakfast and afternoon buffet are gorgeous, very testy and rich. We preferred dining outside -... More

Three generations on this 10 day trip and something for everyone. A superb family holiday with the unexpected bonus of delightful and excellent staff for the children's play area (toys for our 2 and 5 year old were beautifully kept and craft sessions really well organised). No shortage of trips from gentle to more demanding excursions. Hotel was all we... More

We were there for 3 nights as part of an InnTravel hiking vacation. They really cater well to hikers & skiers, including providing detailed hike descriptions for independent hikes & daily guided hikes. Even though we arrived on Sept 21st, we got ~20cm of snow our first night so they recommended against going on an independent & we went with... More
