We visited this hotel for cross country skiing last year and on the strength of that stay we decided to visit again this year. Many things are indeed excellent, for instance the food, standard of cleanliness and the friendly and accommodating service. This year they have improved the gym and this is free to hotel guests. There are snow shoe... More

Our second visit to Austria in february and first time in Ramsau. Due to our passion in cross - country skiing, we chose Ramsau as our destination. Hotel Matschner is excellently located with the world cup cross-country skiing stadium only 100 m from the hotel. With the 130 km trails for classic skiing and 70 km groomed trails for ski skating... Very good hotel. We stayed here for three night and had booked half-board. The breakfast and dinners were excellent! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean. The area is great for hiking. It was a very enjoyable stay indeed.

Just back from a week staying at the Hotel Matschner on a walking holiday organised by Inntravel. There was far more walking, scrambling or more than you could do in a week, even using public transport at the end of September/beginning of October when the summer season is almost over. However the hotel organises 5 guided walks a week so... More

We stayed for a week on a walking holiday and had a north facing room at the front of the hotel. Decent size and plenty of wardrobe space. Staff were lovely, particularly Sylvia at Reception, booking our trip to the Dachstein glacier and re- booking when the weather changed. Food was plentiful and suitable for vegetarian as well as meat-eaters.... More

We stayed at the Matschner over the half term holiday, and all three generations of the family loved it. The hotel provided excellent food for breakfast, afternoon tea, and dinner. The children took full advantage of the kids club and children's swimming pool, and the adults camped out in the sauna and adults pool. The hotel is well connected to... More

My wife and I have just come back from this excellent family hotel. A very efficient and properly run hotel with well trained, friendly and obliging staff. The food was of a very high standard and the free afternoon tea and cake was wonderful being available from 2.30 until 5.00. It was a lot more than tea and cake! The... More

We have just returned from a week cross country skiing and staying in this excellent hotel. The hotel is right in the middle of the village and you can ski from the door. The rooms have balconies and everything is very clean. Attention to detail is very good. The hotel is owned by the very friendly family Knaus, for whom... More

This hotel (booked through Inn Travel) is perfect for a week's winter walking holiday. Seek a front (mountain view) room which, although probably has a shower rather than a bath, more than makes up for this with the view. Be prepared for some traffic noise (especially of the snow-plough after a snow fall), but overall quiet at night - Ramsau... More

We have just stayed several nights in this really good hotel. It's in the small centre of Ramsau next to bus stops for the very good local service to all the local attractions. It's a family run business and all the staff there are very friendly and helpful be it in the restaurant with advice on local places to go.... More
