Nice room overlooking sea, disappointed with small balcony where no room to sit and saw other rooms empty. Only ate in restaurant two nights as only two couples there and that included us. Breakfast Sunday good but poor on other days as empty, it all looked very stale except the fruit. We would return as loved the 70 style and... More

We booked into the hotel for two nights choosing a double room with balcony facing the sea. Spectacular ! The view, the smell of the sea! The room was clean, well furnished in a style befitting the style of the hotel. Elegant but un pretentious .breakfast just amazing. Run by a family and the ambiance shows this. I visited years... Having read some of the previous comments were were a little concerned about staying here, but there was no need to worry. Without being asked the receptionist, Renauld, picked up my wife's case and carried it into the hotel. He was pleasant, welcoming and friendly and, when my fractured French was exhausted, he cheerfully switched to English. He showed us... More

No welcome dispite staff at the desk. Charged for three bed room dispite having email to confirm free childs bed. The male on duty became irritated when I attempted to show him my email I had to confirm this. Rooms and hotel very dated and stuck in the 70s along with the facilities. Could hear people in next room dispite... More

We drove 500 kms and arrived at 5.00 to be told the restaurant was fully booked by the young woman at the desk. - we were surprised and disappointed but we left to walk the 15 minute cliff path to the town that she suggested. This turned out to be a 40 minute walk and we got very lost. When... More

I have to say that we love this hotel and have been visiting for a number of years to celebrate special occassions. Its setting overlooking the Atlantic Ocean is magnificent. The building itself is an impressive 'chateau like' monument. However, I regret to say that it is all becoming a bit dated and is in need of some redecoration and... More

Travelling with a friend, I stayed at the Primavera in order to visit a music festival which was taking place on the beach no more than 200 yards away. I was happy to pay the pretty steep €130 per night in order to have the convenience of being so close by - plus the hotel has plenty of free parking.... More

We took a chance on this place, as it had varying reviews. And it was true that the rooms were definitely dated--carpet in the bathroom and bedroom, peachy orange bathroom fixtures from another era, no shield or curtain for the shower, fussy floral prints, no air conditioning, even with the western sun beating on our picture window (though at night... We only stayed one night at this hotel and could not wait to check out. The rooms are very tired and dated and had a smell of an old peoples home which was extremely unpleasant. It was very expensive - I cannot understand why ? A single coffee was 6.50 euros. The apparently heated pool was very cold and totally... More

The Primavera is one of our favourite hotels for special occasions. The setting is amazing, overlooking the Atlantic coast near Royan, not far from the beaches and night life of Saint Palais. Whilst the hotel is a little tired the rooms are steeped with history and are very spacious - ask for a room with a balcony. The food in... More
