Really enjoyed our short break here. Lovely traditional inn with open fire, very friendly, good food and staff very attentive. Rooms full of character and decorated and furnished to high standard, very clean and had a huge bed which was very comfortable. For what we paid it was exceptional value for money. Winchelsea is a lovely unspoilt village with beautiful... More

This was not my first visit and hopefully will not be my last. Wonderful cosy old pub with a lovely open log fire, great pictures and decorations. Friendly service and delicious food in generous portions. Can't fault it!

What a treasure of a village and with the bonus of a really old cosy pub. We were made welcome by Sarah who efficiently booked us in and looked after our bags. We then went into Rye and then to Dungeness for fish & chips at The Pilot . Returning to the pub we were shown to very comfortable rooms... More

Our trip was on impulse and we booked The New Inn a few hours before and we were not disappointed. Our room was cosy and clean, very well equipped and organised with attention to detail. The shower was a little challenging for my husband who, at 6', was too tall to actually stand under the shower head, something I hope... More

Our room was bright and airy, bigger than the photos suggest and clean. The bed was really comfortable. A lovely, friendly place to stay. It would rate 5* ... ... But one star deducted for the shower. There were two separate issues. Often showers won't go hot. This one had the opposite problem with only very hot and scalding available.... More

A lovely old inn with 6 en-suite bedrooms. The room amenities are excellent and the beds are super comfortable with linen and towel changes every other day and daily room cleaning. Enormous drench showers too! The menu for both light lunches and dinner is varied, good value and well-cooked and presented. The staff are friendly and most helpful. A gorgeous... More

I would thoroughly recommend the New Inn for a satisfying light lunch. We ordered sandwiches accompanied by excellent real chips: hot, crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. Staff friendly and efficient, nice open wood fire, good beer.

Excellent rooms, especially the ones we had overlooking the church. Spotlessly clean and very pleasant decor. Good food in the bar and restaurant and staff attentive. Fantastic position to explore not only the lovely historical village of Winchelsea but the bus passes the door once an hour to take you to Rye, Hastings and beyond.

This pub/restaurant has literally everything going for it. Historical building, wonderful location, breathtaking views, pretty beer garden and great beer; but it was all let down by some truly disappointing food. Lunch was like stepping back into the seventies. Roughly chopped iceberg lettuce with a few shreds of onion, oven ready chips and dry, tired peas accompanied some breaded scampi... More

We found The New Inn by chance, when looking for accommodation within a 20 minute commute of the mother-in-law, who lives in Romney Marsh. 3 miles from Rye, but much quieter & without the parking dramas. We stayed for 7 nights. This is a great character pub with 5 letting rooms. Owners Neil & Shaun are friendly, helpful and engaging... More
