We found The New Inn by chance, when looking for accommodation within a 20 minute commute of the mother-in-law, who lives in Romney Marsh. 3 miles from Rye, but much quieter & without the parking dramas. We stayed for 7 nights. This is a great character pub with 5 letting rooms. Owners Neil & Shaun are friendly, helpful and engaging... More

It was my first visit to both the New Inn and Winchelsea and it was 2 days and nights of pure relaxation, particularly with the wonderful hosts Shaun and Neil who made our stay wonderful. After reading other reviews, i can't understand how anybody could find the New Inn anything other than simply perfect, charming and the perfect place for... More

We booked in to the New Inn because we wanted to enjoy walking around Winchelsea and Rye with our dog. What a breath of fresh air this place happened to be .... Recently taken over this Inn is undergoing refurbishment which will turn it into an absolute stunner. The bed-rooms have already had a crisp make-over and the public spaces... More

Staff were very helpful and went the extra mile. The room was clean with a very comfortable king size bed. Not only was there tea making facilities in the room but also a coffee machine. Food was good pub grub. Would recommend the New Inn as an excellent base for touring round the local area. Definitely would return.

Stayed here for two days last week while on business in the area. We ate each evening in the restaurant, delicious Steak and Ale Pie one night (worth going back for!) and the Sausage and Mash next - especially loved the fresh vegetables! Breakfast too was yummy, cooked to order, so very fresh and hot. We stayed in room 3,... More

A group of us ate at the New Inn a couple of weeks ago and my wife and I decided to use it as a base for a walking trip last weekend. We booked room 1 which is a delightful double overlooking the picturesque centre of Winchelsea. We had a great night sleep and hearty breakfast! Thank you to all... More

Booked a mid week break here at last minute (as changed minds on another one we had booked!) made very welcome by Landlord Shaun. Staff friendly. Room very comfortable (brand new king size bed). Food great, ate both nights and breakfasts - good choice on the menu and this included meals with fresh veg not just chips. Good portion sizes.... More

Have eaten at this Inn three times and the food has been consistently good value and extremely tasty. I would recommend the beef stew and dumplings from the weekday menu and the belly pork on Sundays.

Visited for a spur of the moment mid-week meal and we were very happy that we did so. The menu choice was good; I went for the beef stew with dumplings which was excellent and my husband for the steak pie which he thoroughly enjoyed (said they were the best chips he'd ever had!). Would definitely visit again
