The Lodge is classed as a "Motel" as the roomy and well equiped, if a little dated rooms are accessed in the open. However they are well arranged around the central reception, bar & restaurant block so nothing is far away. The setting whilst on the Hastings Road is in lovely countryside just a little way out of delightful Winchelsea... More

Stayed here for two nights over the recent May Day bank holiday. Very comfortable room with wet room. Staff extremely welcoming and friendly. Normally prefer a hotel within close walking distance of amenities but restaurant served good food, very reasonably priced so wasn't a problem.

We stayed here for 2 nights - very family friendly and welcoming. The room was excellent with full amenities. The bed was comfortable (possibly the only hotel bed I have ever had a good nights sleep in). The bar/restaurant were great - food was very good and the price excellent. The service was warm, welcoming and friendly - nothing was... More

Room was spotless with everything you wanted, bathroom was great with complimentary toileteries, also reception area and bar area were spotless with great friendly staff. Compared to the hotel prices with near by Rye this hotel is a little gem situated in lovely countryside.

I just wanted somewhere inexpensive for one night: this fit the bill. I paid £40 midweek, including Continental breakfast. Good points: Location: close to Winchelsea (about 10-15 minutes' walk, but up a steep hill); less than 2 miles from Icklesham; a few miles from Rye. Clean, well maintained. Price, especially compared to Rye etc. Small problems: Under-staffed reception: when I... More

We stayed on a Saturday night with our daughter. Both rooms were very clean, warm and comfortable, with tea and coffee plus delicious biscuits provided in the room. It was perfect for a stop-off. The staff were extremely polite and after checking in we were given a map of Rye and a tip on where to park. Having looked at... More

This is a great hotel, really freindly helpful staff and the food in the restaurant was really good and at a very reasonable price. We were a family group of 13 and from the moment we arrived we knew we had chosen the right hotel for our weekend away. The views were spectacular and the rooms were clean and had... More
