We stayed at the Lord Lister during the Rugby World Cup. We loved the place. The owners are super friendly and made us feel very much at home. We live in Mozambique and have family in Hitchin so this will be our regular place to stay every time we visit Hitchin. Rooms very cosy and have all that we needed.... More

We stay in Hitchin on a regular basis and used to try a different hotel every week. We stumbled upon the Lord Lister and ended up staying there for 3 weeks on the trot. The atmosphere is lovely, The rooms are super clean and the breakfast is just yummy! A lovely welcoming family atmosphere where nothing is to much trouble.... More

Having just moved away from the area, we were back this weekend to clean and hand over keys to our rented house, catch up with family and collect the cat. We booked into the Lord Lister Hotel for Saturday night. It is situated in a good location for easy access to Hitchin's lively restaurant area. We stayed at the front... More

This is more of a big bnb than a hotel. Location is on the edge of the town centre, opposite a big Asda and a second-hand bookshop. My stay was fine; no problems. Friendly Italian couple run it. I had a top floor double room - there are quite a few corridors, fire doors, steps up and down, so it... More

I stayed at the Lord Lister for about 2 weeks during a business trip to Hitchin. If you're on foot, the location couldn't be better. It's a 5-10 minute walk to any restaurant or bar in central Hitchin. The staff (family owned) were all very friendly and incredibly helpful. No complaints at all!

Family and staff were very pleasant and helpful, our room (No 1) was nice, clean and well presented although smoke from the smoking area outside wafted in if we had the window open. Service to the room was great - bed made and bathroom cleaned whilst we were at breakfast. Breakfast was good, plenty on offer, busy early as there... More

Stayed here before a family wedding.we were made to feel welcome by all the family working here. There is a car park behind the hotel although reversing if it is full isn't for the faint hearted. Our room was a little dated but this is an old hotel and the facilities were good. Many touches in the room you don't... More

I stayed at the Lord Lister together with my elderly father. It was a delightful small hotel. The family who ran it were extremely pleasant and helpful which was reassuring in relation to my father needing extra attention. I have already booked another visit there and am pleased to have found a nice base when visiting that area. Note that... More

Upon arriving at the hotel the welcome was adequate, nobody seemed to put themselves out. Our room was poor, very dated and shabby, handles fell off the drawers and the shower/bathroom needed renewing. Upon arriving back at the hotel at 11pm we attempted to buy a drink. we were informed we had only a few minutes to drink up. We... More

I called the Lister a couple of nights before to confirm my booking and got the distinct impression the lady I spoke to would rather be elsewhere, which sewed the seed. There's nothing 'bad' about the place, although my room was quiet but tired and small, the bathroom looked ok. I was packing my rucksack to leave at around 7.30... More
